I don't understand the effort of this franchise to infantilize its games more and more, especially considering the age of its average player. But worst of all, it's how absurdly easy it is, something already imposed in all pokemon games. Simply press A without stopping to beat the game. Is it so difficult to put an option to deactivate sharing experience? I think that the ideal would be to distribute experience as in the original gold and silver, but they seem determined to ignore the fans.
I have always used scene, but I have bought original games that I like like all pokemon, but for several generations I have not bought one, they do not deserve my money.
Thank the gamer gods if there is one. That I did not have to spend a dime on a Switch and on this Pokemon game.
First off to all the sensitive nerds on IMDB, I am a Pokemon Master. I've beaten the Yellows, Blues, Silver, Pearls, Suns and etc.
My fav pokemon is Dragonite and my original pearl team back in the day consisted of Infernape, Luxray, Straptor, Gastrodon, Krictitune and Golem.
Unlike you who are unable to criticize a company. I can and I already do and will again. It's unfortunate that YOU can't.
Before the SP and BD were announced I always wanted a remake, when I say remake I don't mean copy and paste like we just got. That being said, early this year when I heard about the remake, I was excited. After skipping out on Sword and Shield, in my opinion looked filthy I was ready for one last rodeo in the Pokemon Universe before I retire from Pokemon for good.
Towards the day of release, I went from wanting to buy a Switch and get SP or BD to forgetting about it. I didn't even realize it was released until I saw my Little cousin playing it. I had forgotten all about it.
I just had to give it a go and I mean help him out a bit. Sometimes Pokemon games can be hard for little tykes.
As I was playing it I was expecting Pearl but with new features, story and Pokémon. I spent a couple of days hoping things would get better, and they didn't. I didn't receive any new and worthwhile. It's the same game as Pearl from 2006. Nothing stood out in this game. This was a literal remake... With corny babyish upgraded graphics. And still no voice-overs. If they can make stale Pokémon shows, then they can add a couple voices into their copy and paste games.
The same things I did on Pearl I was doing it in SP&BD. A total let down, I felt betrayed. The game should have been sold for 20 bucks. 80 bucks should be considered a crime.
I'm grateful that I didn't waste money on a Switch and on an expensive literal remake game. I tell you I was excited about this moment for years. It finally came and it was a major let down. For me to retire as a Pokémon master this way is disrespectful. Pokémon debuted when I was in elementary school. I knew of Pokémon since the 90s and supported the hell out of them for over 20 years, and they repay me with subpar games and a lousy final over expensive Pokémon run. No Pokémon game is worth more than 50 bucks, to say the least. You do the same things in all Pokémon games. Plus they are corny to the max. Still I enjoyed it and back then the games were sold at a decent price, while I still supported Pokemon because I enjoyed their games. Now that I'm older, I needed to say goodbye, and it wasn't a pleasant departure.
This game was filth. Don't buy this game. Nintendo and Pokemon just robbed from many of their beloved and loyal fans haha! Safe to say that they didn't rob me though.
Pokémon Shining Pearl is everything a remake should be and more. It brilliantly captures the magic and spirit of the original Pokémon Pearl while updating it with modern polish that makes the classic Sinnoh adventure shine like never before.
The Ultimate Sinnoh Experience
From the moment you step into the Sinnoh region, you're immersed in a world that balances nostalgia with fresh energy. The story, characters, and locations all feel lovingly crafted and true to the original, but the quality-of-life improvements and graphical enhancements bring the region to life in stunning ways.
Whether it's challenging Gym Leaders, exploring Mt. Coronet, or unraveling the secrets of Team Galactic, every moment feels epic and rewarding.
Visuals and Presentation
The art style is charming and distinctive, with the "chibi" character models bringing a unique and endearing vibe to the world. The environments are rich and vibrant, full of detail that invites exploration. The seamless animation and well-designed UI elevate the experience without losing the nostalgic feel.
Gameplay Perfection
Gameplay hits all the right notes. The turn-based battles feel tight and strategic, and the Pokémon roster is perfectly balanced. The updated mechanics smooth out any frustrating parts of the original, like easier navigation and improved item management, without sacrificing challenge or depth.
The Grand Underground adds a fantastic layer of exploration and treasure hunting, giving players more reasons to dive deep into Sinnoh.
Multiplayer and Connectivity
Online battling and trading are seamless and robust, creating a thriving community for competitive play and trading nostalgia. The multiplayer features are easy to access and reliable, keeping the game fresh long after the main story is done.
Why It's a 10/10
Shining Pearl nails the balance between nostalgia and modernization. It respects the original's legacy while making meaningful upgrades that enhance every aspect of the game. This isn't just a remake - it's a celebration of everything that made Sinnoh unforgettable, packaged perfectly for both longtime fans and newcomers.
Final Word: If you want the definitive Sinnoh adventure, Pokémon Shining Pearl delivers with heart, style, and flawless execution. It's a legendary remake that honors the past and sets a high bar for future Pokémon games.
10 out of 10 - A flawless tribute and an absolute must-play for every Pokémon trainer.
