I don't get the high rating for this game. I've played all the FF games, and this one is by far the most boring of them all. The story is good, and that's literally the only thing saving it. But the gameplay? It's incredibly dull, and there are so many issues I don't even know where to start:
I don't understand how people can criticize games like XIII-where the combat, even if it wasn't like the originals, was much more engaging-and then give this game such high praise.
If they keep going down this path, I'm pretty sure this will be the last FF game I buy and play. If the story is good, I'll just watch it on YouTube. If it weren't for Octopath Traveler and Bravely Default, which are the real heirs to the FF legacy, I wouldn't even bother with Square Enix anymore.

- No strategy in combat: Elements don't matter at all, your companions can't be knocked out, and there's barely any variety in the fights. It's just attack, use a special ability, and wait for it to recharge-over and over again.
- Farming is pointless: Just following the main story gives you more than enough resources and experience to get everything you need. And if you do want to farm, the amount of resources or XP you get is ridiculously small. The game is clearly designed so you just stick to the story and nothing else.
- The gear doesn't matter; it makes no difference what you carry (a 2% improvement? Cutting a cooldown by 2 seconds? Seriously?). The progress is so gradual and insignificant that every time you switch weapons, it's purely aesthetic with no real impact.
- Completely linear: Sure, you can revisit familiar locations, but why? There's nothing to gain or do there. Side quests are meaningless: Most are just boring fetch quests or "go kill that monster" tasks.

It already made little sense to remake this game, but doing it the way they did should be a crime. It is not a remake, it contributes little or nothing, the only thing they have done is adapt it for children of 3-5 years.
I don't understand the effort of this franchise to infantilize its games more and more, especially considering the age of its average player. But worst of all, it's how absurdly easy it is, something already imposed in all pokemon games. Simply press A without stopping to beat the game. Is it so difficult to put an option to deactivate sharing experience? I think that the ideal would be to distribute experience as in the original gold and silver, but they seem determined to ignore the fans.
I have always used scene, but I have bought original games that I like like all pokemon, but for several generations I have not bought one, they do not deserve my money.
