Groovy Advances

This is a short industrial film produced by AT&T to discuss the advances in telephone technology. It covers several of the key changes from Alexander Graham Bell's original technology to the latest -- as of 1973 -- advances under study by Bell Labs. Among the most recent advances as of 1973 are fiber optic cables, magnetic bubble technology, and miniature circuit boards that we call "chips" nowadays.

Of course there have been many advances since 1973 ; that's half a century ago as I write this. What's astonishing is to see them in their early research forms.

Peter Halliday speaks to the audience, and handles several of the older pieces of technology. Some of the more recent inventions are cut into the film; and there's plenty of animation to show how things work, in a Peter Max-styled style of illustration.
