Given the track record of Netflix productions lately I was a bit reserved about my expectations, but fear not, the Big Fight is Excellent!
It is probably just recency bias, but I can't recall when had I enjoyed an Asterix story as much. There is plenty of character development and a lot of various setups-payoffs that feel very satisfactory when you get to them. The plot evolves fairly logically with one event leading to the other. We even get a couple of suspenseful scenes of Asterix (competently) fighting without the aid of the magic potion and even Obelix gets a couple high stakes fights.
The animation is colorful and full of energy. There are LOADS of excellent jokes, quite a lot meant rather for the adults (e.g. The Pulp Fiction twist dancing is briefly referenced). It was truly the funniest thing I've seen in a while. Watching the big fight filled me with glee.
I think this was excellent. There still seem to be people capable of producing good Asterix content so I hope we will be getting more like it. Now go Watch it, increase the view count to let the producers know it is good and pretty please make an another!

As lovers of the original comics, but not having read them in years, and being acquainted with the terrible attempts at Asterix and Obelix film adaptations, this was an unexpected joy to watch as a family!
We range from 16-24 years and we loved this. We found the English dub to be hilarious. The accents selected were awesome and added to the humour and experience. The quick wit, attention to detail, consistency in story telling, and everything was so so loved. We couldn't stop watching.
If it weren't for a seemingly unnecessary character in the last three episodes (Apothexis), this would be a 10/10. The third episode was a bit of a filler and we found it to be a bit too modern and 'silly' which kind of broke the immersion in the world they had created. But, the rest of the show seemed to keep the 'silliness' to a level which was tolerable and well balanced with the geniuses humour and good plot.
Hoping for many more!

Wished more people acknowledged that this came out. Asterix and obelix is pretty famous in my country wich yeah is in europe but still.
I haven't read allot of the comics but i have watched a few of the films.
Both the two animated ones and a few of the live action films.
This one is connected to the two animated films wich i both really like.
This one is a mini series but i found to be wonderfully charming.
The animation is great and they also use allot of 2d elements aswell, i like the hero's aswell as villains. Im not going over the plot since its like 5 episodes that are each half an hour so i would be yapping endlessly.

Loved every bit of it. It has the subtle humor, puns, relatable to current times and to top it of the last few seconds conversation between Chief Vitalstatistix and Impedimenta was the cherry on top.
The show creators expanded the story without loosing the essence of the original story. As an Asterix fan, I must say this was the best animation of Asterix so far (12 Tasks of Asterix was my previous favourite).
Animation, Sound design and background score was perfect. The dialogues are witty. A perfect show to watch with whole family.
Thank you Netflix and the whole team. A true tribute to Goscinny and Uderzo.

"Le Combat des Chefs" is one of the most iconic Asterix albums, and this new adaptation not only captures its essence flawlessly but elevates it with thoughtful enhancements for animation. The contemporary updates blend seamlessly with the original spirit, including subtle allusions to current events-Caesar's resemblance to Netanyahu and Putin, for instance, is unmistakable. For me, it's a complete triumph: the character animation feels as if the figures have stepped directly out of the comic's panels, while the colour palette pays a respectful homage to the 1989 adaptation of this album and Le Devin. It's a superb achievement, enriched by a stellar voice cast and outstanding visual design.
That said, I do feel that recent Asterix adaptations increasingly target a younger audience. Given that the original comic material often carries more mature themes and wit, I hope future projects will embrace that richness more fully. I'd love to see an adaptation aimed at adults-perhaps of Astérix chez les Helvètes or Les Lauriers de César. Or finally, a proper take on Le Tour de Gaule."

- TriviaBeside the plot being based on the album Nr. 7 of the Asterix series from 1964, other small details and elements are borrowed from other albums: The fact that Asterix and Obelix celebrate their birthday is referenced in album 34, entitled "Asterix and Obelix's Birthday" and released in 2009 on the 50th anniversary of the first Asterix comic. The story about Obelix falling into the magic potion as a kid, that is referenced in every movie and album, was first told in the comic "How Obelix Fell into the Magic Potion When He Was a Little Boy", first released in "Pilote Magazine" in 1965. In both cases it involved Obelix being bullied. The adding of strawberries and lobster in the magic potion was mentioned in the first album "Asterix the Gaul", as well as in the adaptation Astérix le Gaulois (1967). An election of a village's leader was a plot element in the 21st album "Asterix and Caesar's Gift" from 1974.
