Henry Golding Reveals ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ Series Could Drop Next Year: ‘Aiming for Like First Quarter’
Image
“Crazy Rich Asians” fans have been waiting patiently for a sequel to the hit film since its 2018 release. With follow-ups to the original novel by Kevin Kwan already ripe for adaptation — 2015’s “China Rich Girlfriend,” 2017’s “Rich People Problems” and 2024’s “Lies and Weddings” — and the massive return on its investment Warner Bros. enjoyed, it even feels inevitable. In 2022, it was reported that the sequel was officially on the way after replacing original co-writers Adele Lim and Peter Chiarelli. But it’s seven years later… and nothing.

Earlier this year, however, it was reported that a television series was in development for HBO Max with Lim back on board as the showrunner and director John M. Chu as executive producer. Lim has become a Hollywood powerhouse since her “Crazy Rich” success, writing the Oscar-nominated “Raya and the Last Dragon” and moving into the directing sphere with the acclaimed “Joy Ride...

'It's Really Hard to Make a Show': Melissa Fumero Opens Up on New Series Getting Canceled
Image
Melissa Fumero is opening up about the cancellation of her new NBC drama, Grosse Pointe Garden Society. The network gave the show the axe just months after its first season premiered.

In a post on Threads, Fumero shared photos from the set of Grosse Pointe Garden Society and talked about the difficulties of keeping a new series on the air. "Oh, Birdie. You were one for the books. You felt like an amalgamation of every role I’ve ever played," she wrote. "I’ll miss so many things about this job, but most of all I will miss the incredible group of humans it brought together. I won’t miss the shoes. It’s really hard to make a show. Even harder to keep it on air. I’ll forever be proud of what we made. Thanks for watching."

It Needs To Be Said: Scooby-doo Needs A Goddamn Renaissance
Image
When you think of true cinematic art, storytelling in its purest form, hard-hitting works that surpass the label of mere entertainment, most will probably think of features like The Godfather, Schindler's List, Lost in Translation and Lady Bird. Me? I think of Scooby-Doo. That's right, you silly motherf*ckers — arguably the purest art form there is in today's pop culture comes in the form of a talking Great Dane who solves mysteries alongside his five eclectic (human) pals, just fumbling their way through life, like most of us, but unlike us, actually landing on their feet.

Today, I wanted — nay, needed — to make something clear: I am tired of the Scooby-Doo disrespect. My dog-boy needs a renaissance. Over twenty years ago, Mystery Inc. had two shots at the big screen, courtesy of director Raja Gosnell and writer James Gunn: 2002's Scooby-Doo and 2004's Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed. The movies...

Fresh Off The Boat Cast: Where The Actors Are Now
Image
We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.

It's hard to believe that five whole years have passed since "Fresh Off the Boat" ended in 2020. Though many of us have blocked out the trauma of that year due to the pandemic, about a month before the world shut down, the trailblazing ABC comedy series put a satisfying bow on its run after six seasons.

The show was received positively by audiences and critics for the performances of marquee stars Randall Park and Constance Wu, as well as the charming family dynamics on display. In addition to the performances, "Fresh Off the Boat" was a beacon of Asian-American representation on TV. It remains the first and only series featuring an all-Asian main cast to reach 100 episodes, making it also the longest-running Asian-American family sitcom in history.

Since the final episode, the cast has taken very different career paths. Some are cementing themselves in Hollywood,...

Hit Netflix show adds Enterprise and Prodigy actors to its already Star Trek-heavy cast
Image
Production is underway on season two of the Netflix hit comedy-mystery A Man on the Inside, and it will feature a pair of new co-stars who happen to be Star Trek veterans. Season one, which dropped in November of 2024, stars Ted Danson as Charles Nieuwendyk, a bored retiree who lands a job assisting a private detective attempting to track down a ruby necklace gone missing at a San Francisco retirement home. Season two will find Charles still working at the private detective agency and no doubt serving as the inside man again on a new case.

The actors from the Star Trek universe joining the cast of A Man on the Inside are Linda Park and Jason Mantzoukas. Park was a regular on Star Trek: Enterprise, portraying Ensign Hoshi Sato for all four seasons of the show’s run. Mantzoukas is an actor, comic, and podcaster who provided the voice of the Tellarite character,...

Netflix Is Saving 1 of the Greatest Franchises of the Last 6 Decades by Breaking a 16-Year Trend
Image
Scooby-Doo has been a fixture in pop culture for over fifty years, spanning dozens of hits, classic television shows, and animated films. The basic story sees Scooby-Doo, a cowardly but lovable great dane, go on spooky adventures with his four friends, Shaggy, Velma, Fred and Daphne, across the world to solve terrifying mysteries with ghouls, goblins and more. While Scooby-Doo didn't coin the term, it's probably the most famous example of the monster-of-the-week formula, where characters encounter and combat a new villain or monster in every episode. The franchise has seen many hits, such as shows like Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!, A Pup Named Scooby-Doo, What's New, Scooby-Doo? and Scooby-Doo: Mystery Incorporated, as well as many hit movies like Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island.

However, the franchise has recently died down due to a lack of interest. Although Scooby-Doo has faced low points like this before, he's never been out of...

20 Classic Cartoon Network Shows That Still Hold Up
Image
Since 1992, Cartoon Network has been home to some of the most iconic and influential cartoons of all time. This fan-favorite network featured nostalgic shows that have aged well and are now considered classics to '90s babies and beyond.

Any series that adults today watched as children back then are prime for the picking. Of course, not everything in Cartoon Network's history has aged well, but many classic Cartoon Network shows have managed to stand the test of time.

Updated on March 26, 2025, by Robbie Robinson: A lot of people have grown up watching shows on Cartoon Network. As streaming services have become the norm, most children these days miss out on the joys of scrolling through the channel guide and waiting for their favorite shows to come on.

Scooby-Doo Is Getting A New Live-Action Series On Netflix
Image
Scooby-Doo, where are you? The answer is, well, he's on his way to Netflix actually. Yes, 21 years after Mystery Incorporated's lovable Great Dane made his last live-action appearance in the heinously underrated, James Gunn penned Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed, Scoob and the gang — Fred, Daphne, Velma, and Shaggy of course — are set to solve a fresh set of mysteries in an all-new origin series for the streamer, created by Josh Appelbaum (From) and Scott Rosenberg (Jumanji: The Next Level).

Scoob and his mystery-solving human pals have been an iconic force in popular culture for over half a century at this point, with Hanna Barbera's original Scooby-Doo, Where Are You? dating all the way back to 1969 and an eye-watering 13 more toon shows and 43 animated films having followed in the years since. For this self-ascribed "modern reimagining" of the franchise however, it looks like Appelbaum and Rosenberg are looking to...

Mindy Kaling sets new Hulu show as hit Max comedy awaits renewal
Image
If there's one thing Mindy Kaling's going to do, it's the same thing she's been doing for 20 years and counting since debuting on The Office: Make us laugh. The multi-hyphenate actress, writer, and producer has multiple hit comedy series under her belt, including her eponymous sitcom The Mindy Project and the upcoming Netflix original Running Point starring Kate Hudson.

As Running Point preps its premiere for Feb. 27, Kaling's comedy empire continues to grow as the newly minted Hollywood Walk of Fame recipient sets her next series at Hulu. On Feb. 18, Hulu announced the series pickup of Not Suitable for Work, a comedy about five 20-something professionals living, working, dating, and such in Manhattan's Murray Hill neighborhood.

The half-hour single-cam comedy is the latest output from Kaling's lucrative overall deal with Warner Bros. Television, which she also renewed for a multi-year extension. Kaling writes and executive produces Not Suitable for Work alongside Charlie Grandy,...

What Happened To The Cast Of The Mindy Project?
Image
When "The Office" star Mindy Kaling created her own show, "The Mindy Project," she set out to redefine the kinds of roles women were allowed to play in sitcoms. "I really fell in love with the format where the main character was very flawed," she told Variety years later. "It was something you had seen countless times on sitcoms with men, but you hadn't seen with women. And I was so excited to play that part in a bigger capacity than I had."

To accomplish that goal, she invented Dr. Mindy Lahiri — a woman who desperately wants to be in love, at the expense of just about every other facet of her life. Still, she's a great doctor, a good coworker, and eventually, a great mom. Mindy's adventures won the show legions of fans -- even as it moved from network television to Hulu -- and viewers fell in love with the show's quirky,...

15 Best TV Shows On Max, Ranked
Image
The streaming wars remain a struggle in juggling quantity and quality. However, there's one service that's struck a finely tuned balance, since one can say the best TV shows on Max can also be considered among the greatest TV series of all time, according to IMDb. Now, if only someone could convince Max's parent company to stop removing original series and movies for tax break purposes, that would be terrific. Don't let Zaslavamania run wild, brother!

Whether it's the selection of HBO classics, such as "The Sopranos" and "The Wire," or the highly-rated Max originals like "Peacemaker" and "Hacks," this streaming platform suffers from no shortage of good content. Be that as it may, this makes it even tougher to choose the best shows here. So, the criteria for inclusion on this list needed to be narrowed down to the following: The series received mostly critical and audience acclaim, while...

Why Mindy Kaling Left The Office
Image
We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.

To say that people love "The Office" would be a bit of a dramatic understatement. The NBC sitcom, which is based on the short-lived U.K. series of the same name, ran for nine seasons, going off the air in 2013. Although it's been off the air for more than a decade, it remains insanely popular. So much so that it's one of the core things helping to keep Peacock afloat in the streaming wars.

Like many shows, the later seasons of "The Office" are pretty widely considered among the worst. There are many reasons for that but one core reason is that by season 9, several of the show's mainstays had departed. Steve Carell left the role of Michael Scott behind at the end of season 7, for example. But season 8 also saw core cast member Mindy Kaling, known for her portrayal as the dramatic Kelly Kapoor,...

Every Mindy Kaling Production, Ranked
Image
Ask the average pop culture fan about Mindy Kaling and they’ll likely respond about her career as a writer, actor, and general celebrity. They’ll probably credit her, to varying degrees, for a range of projects she’s been on or behind the scenes of since “The Office,” but maybe not the specifics of her work as producer.

Kaling became a producer on “The Office,” but in 2012 founded Kaling International at the same time that she launched her own sitcom, “The Mindy Project.” Since then, the company has produced original titles across film and television, from the aforementioned single-cam sitcom to recent hits like “The Sex Lives of College Girls,” which concluded its third season on Max. To celebrate another season, we decided to revisit every Kaling International title as a primer or refresher for those interested in her work.

As a producer, Kaling has also championed projects that...

“Fresh Off the Boat” Cast: Where Are They Now?
Image
Through its six-season run from 2015 to 2020, ABC’s Fresh Off the Boat entertained audiences immensely. Set in the 1990s, the show followed the life and adventures of a Taiwanese-American family living in suburban Florida. The show was based on the eponymous 2013 memoir by food personality Eddie Huang, who also served as an executive producer on the show.

The Huang Family in Fresh Off the Boat | Credits: ABC

Fresh Off the Boat was culturally significant and did great in terms of Asian-American representation in mainstream media. Preceded by Margaret Cho-led All-American Girl, Fresh Off the Boat was the first sitcom on television, after over 20 years, with an all-Asian-American star cast. Apart from this socially important milestone, the show also managed to win people’s hearts.

It resonated deeply with people’s experiences of growing up in the 90s and left them in stitches with its chaotic humor. The characters, each unique,...

Now that 2024 has come to a close, it’s official, Netflix once again handed out the most cancellations in the calendar year – though at this point, I don’t think anyone will find this surprising. While the streaming platform has gotten better as the years have gone by in giving shows final seasons and the chances to establish themselves with audiences, the streaming platform continues to have some of the biggest cancellation rates in the business and 2024 was no different.

In total, Netflix canceled 16 shows in 2024 while also handing six additional shows their walking papers with final season orders which are about as close to cancellations as you can get the only difference being that those lucky six shows will get to actually wrap up their runs with proper sendoffs. So when you combine the two groups, Netflix decided to end a whopping 22 shows in 2024 be it by canceling them directly or ordering final seasons.

1 Year Later, Fans Still Hate This Canceled HBO Mystery Series (But It's Not as Bad as They Think)
Image
Scooby-Doo and his mystery-solving friends have been integral parts of pop culture for decades. Their history dates as far back as the late 60s with their first show called Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! Mystery Inc. has had many random and unique adaptations. A Pup Named Scooby-Doo showed audiences who the gang was before their teenage years, The 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo saw real ghosts haunting a new Mystery Inc. and Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated saw the gang face off with some of their most threatening, terrifying monsters yet. The Scooby-Doo brand can be adapted and transformed for any new generation of audience as seen throughout their illustrious career. In January 2023, the current Scooby-Doo audience was introduced to a new show that would change the perception of the brand’s history forever. Velma, created by Mindy Kaling and Charlie Grandy, premiered on the Max streaming service and was met with near-universal hate online.

The Most Controversial TV Cancelations of 2024
Image
TV cancellations aren’t close to America’s most pressing problem headed into 2025 — but in an uncertain year for the entertainment industry, premature endings in creative workplaces pack as big a punch as ever.

Major guild strikes ended last year and the streaming bubble burst from 2022 has given platforms at least some time to recover since. Still, the countless impacts of Hollywood’s faltering business model could be felt throughout episodic and feature productions as dwindling work continued to move away from traditional opportunity hubs in Los Angeles. As film scenes in other U.S. states and Canada benefited from decline in Southern California, the swan song of peak television experienced an ongoing decrease in new series getting greenlit and an uptick in single-season cancellations.

From network staples ending this year to streaming favorites wrapping it up soon, the titles not returning say as much about the state of the...

Why A Brooklyn NIne-Nine Revival Likely Won't Happen Emotionally Explained By Amy Santiago Actor
Image
Melissa Fumero explains why a revival of Brooklyn Nine-Nine is unlikely to happen. Fumero played Amy Santiago, a main character in the workplace sitcom police procedural about NYPD's Jake Peralta and his team at the police station. In addition to Fumero, Brooklyn Nine-Nine featured a leading cast including Andy Samberg, Stephanie Beatriz, Terry Crews, Joe Lo Truglio, Andre Braugher, Dirk Blocker, and Joel McKinnon Miller. Brooklyn Nine-Nine ran for eight seasons from 2013 to 2021. Despite it concluding, some have been urging for the series to be revived.

In an exclusive interview with Screen Rant for Based on a True Story season 2, Fumero explains why a revival of Brooklyn Nine-Nine is unlikely. According to the actor, this idea has been brought up already among the cast and crew, who "miss spending [their] days together." She says the biggest thing holding them back, though, is that they "don't think [they] could ever do it,...

A.P. Bio Cast & Character Guide
Image
The former NBC sitcom A.P. Bio has a robust cast full of hilarious main and supporting characters. Mike O'Brien of Saturday Night Live acclaim created the original sitcom, which first premiered on February 1, 2018. The show is centered around professor turned high-school teacher Jack Griffin, who is played by Glenn Howerton of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. A.P. Bio follows Jack as he transitions from being a philosophy professor at Harvard University to an A.P. Biology teacher at his hometown high school after falling from grace due to a YouTube video.

A.P. Bio ran for two seasons on NBC before moving to Peacock for its final two seasons. The series was canceled twice even though it maintained an impressive Rotten Tomatoes score of 88%, with its second and third seasons earning perfect 100% critic scores. Despite the positive reviews of A.P. Bio, there was not enough consistent viewership for the series to continue past four seasons.

Dune: Prophecy and the 6 best (and 2 worst) shows streaming on Max right now
Image
The streaming platform Max is known for its brilliant library of movies as it is the streaming home to some of the biggest film features. However, you don’t want to sleep on Max’s TV content! From Dune: Prophecy to House of the Dragon, there’s something for everyone on the service.

If you don’t already have a Max subscription, you’re missing out on quality rich series. The stories are engaging, clever, and feature a star-studded talented cast. I can sing its praises all day, but no streamer is perfect. Max is one of my favorite services, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have any bad apples. The majority of Max’s content is great, but in our list below we also highlight the shows we would rather skip.

The Last of Us and Succession, for example, need to be on your to-watch list if...

Scooby-Doo Star Matthew Lillard Shares Blunt Opinion of the Velma Series
Image
The Scooby-Doo franchise marked its 55th anniversary this September, and it's genuinely hard to keep track with all the different TV series, specials, and movies (both theatrical and mostly direct-to-video or for TV). Despite all of that and more than half a century of media, only two actors have canonically played Shaggy, the delightfully raspy Bff of the titlular Great Dane. First came the legendary DJ Casey Kasem, who voiced the character for something like 372 episodes of television and 14 made-for-tv movies. Then there was Matthew Lillard, who first joined the franchise in the form of star-studded live-action movies before becoming the voice actor behind Shaggy for approximately 27 direct-to-video movies, eight TV specials, and 156 TV episodes. There is technically one more Shaggy out there...

The adult animated series Velma takes the intellectual property of Scooby-Doo and completely reworks it in ways that fans of the franchise have absolutely hated. Fortunately,...

New Looney Tunes Movie Director Addresses Warner Bros. Shutdowns
Image
Long Live Looney Tunes. Unfortunately, the same cant be said for a lot of other IPs once under the Warner Brothers banner. Among a laundry list of theatrical take-downs, website wipes and digital content deletions, WB recently scrubbed one of its longest-standing streaming services. Standing as the director and writer behind The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie, Pete Browngardt commented on the recent cancelation of Boomerang, the all-around classic toon channel:

Its becoming more and more difficult to, at times, find classic animation thats out there. Especially with the streaming services. They are wonderful a lot of the time, but they are also the gatekeepers of whats available. I always say that if you love something, find a physical copy of it and keep it in your house. Because I know when I want to watch something thats from the past, I try to keep a...

Quentin Tarantino Hates Scooby-Doo – But What Does He Think About Velma?
Image
The Scooby-Doo cartoon that Quentin Tarantino despised so much as a young kid has changed a lot over the years. Ever since Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island and the 2002 live-action film, there’s been a push to make the series more “mature.” Well, at least as mature as a show about a crime-solving talking dog can […]

Tracker Season 2 Premiere Sets Up A Much Bigger Heartbreak For Colter's Team
Image
Tracker set up a heartbreaking plot for Colter's team in the season 2 premiere. Justin Hartley's show launched in 2024, introducing Hartley as Colter Shaw, a self-proclaimed "rewardist" who lives on the open road solving missing person cases. During its season 1 run, Tracker was the most popular series on CBS, even dethroning NCIS as the most popular show on network TV. As the Tracker narrative progresses into a second season, it grapples with the evolution of the Tracker cast, which is missing a familiar face.

The series announced ahead of Tracker season 2 that Robin Weigert would not return as Teddi Bruin. Teddi was a critical member of Colter Shaw's team in Tracker, assisting her spouse, Abby McEnany's Velma, as Colter's handler. In the Tracker season 2 debut, the series avoided diving into the couples' impending separation, inevitable now that Weigert won't return. Instead, the Tracker season 2 premiere set the characters up for future heartbreak.

Velmas Cancelation After 2 Seasons Proves A Harsh Truth About The Scooby-Doo Series
Image
Velma was a much older cartoon series that caused a lot of controversies, so the news that Velma was canceled was not too surprising. There's a perception among many that Velma fell short as the show made a multitude of changes to the characters' personalities, resulting in a lack of redeeming qualities. Its attempts to offer something different has been met with some praise, but there's no question that it courted controversy.

With Mindy Kaling leading the cast of Velma, the show follows a much different story surrounding Velma, as she tries to solve mysteries in her school as young girls are getting murdered. This show was incredibly different to other Scooby-Doo shows, as Velma excluded the main character from the series. However, being unique wasn't enough to ensure it enjoyed a long life. In this regard, Velma's cancelation can be compared to Scooby Doo: Mystery Incorporated.

‘The Sex Lives of College Girls’ Season 3 gets premiere date and new trailer [Watch]
Image
The only way is Essex. “The Sex Lives of College Girls,” Max’s cult hit comedy series, returns the week before Thanksgiving, the streaming service announced Wednesday. Max also released a new teaser trailer for Season 3 of executive producer Mindy Kaling’s series.

Things are typically wild as the girls return for sophomore year. Bela (Amrit Kaur) wants to hook up with the mascot, Franklin the Fox. Kimberly (Pauline Chalamet) swipes right on Whitney’s (Alyah Chanelle Scott) dad. Normal stuff at Essex College.

Season 3 finds breakout star Renee Rapp transitioning to a recurring role and making her exit from the series during the season as she focuses on her music career. She is heavily featured in the trailer, though, cracking jokes and hugging her suitemates.

Returning series regulars include Chalamet, Kaur, Scott, Christopher Meyer, Ilia Isorelýs Paulino, and Renika Williams. New cast members include Gracie Lawrence, Mia Rodgers, Nabeel Muscatwalla,...

Velma Season 3: Will It Happen? Everything We Know

Quick Links Velma Season 3 Latest News Velma Season 3 Is Not Confirmed Velma Season 3 Cast Velma Season 3 Story Details Velma Season 3: Further News & Info

Max's controversial Scooby-Doo off-shoot, Velma, has returned for its second season, but will the raunchy cartoon be renewed for season 3? Created by Charlie Grandy and debuting in 2023, Velma centers on the beloved Scooby-Doo protagonist as she and her fellow future Mystery Inc. teammates solve various crimes before they officially teamed up in later cartoons. Immediately setting itself apart from the rest of the franchise, Velma features an abundance of blue humor, meta references, and most importantly, it doesn't star Scooby.

When season 1 debuted in January 2023, critics and fans alike were split, with some praising the bold take and others vilifying it for "ruining" a beloved franchise. Velma season 2 happened despite all the controversy, and that was due to the fact that it was one of Max's most-watched animated series ever.

Velma axed by Max after two seasons
Image
The adult-animated comedy-horror series Velma will not be returning for a third season, as Max has given the show the boot. In other words, Velma has been officially canceled.

Here's an official statement from Max about the show's cancellation via Variety:

Over the past two seasons, Mindy [Kaling] and Charlie [Grandy] have created an incredibly fun and fresh world within the iconic whodunit franchise. While we won’t be moving forward with another season of the series, we thank them for their compelling coming-of-age storytelling, unrivaled clues, and hilarious hijinks.

Charlie Grandy developed and created Velma. The show was based on the character Velma Dinkley from the Scooby-Doo franchise, and it told Velma's origin story, focusing on her life before she became part of the Mystery Inc. gang. The other human members that would eventually make up Mystery Inc. were also in the show, such as Fred, Shaggy (Norville), and Daphne.

Max finally canceled one of the most unpopular shows, and we're so relieved
Image
It always stings when one of our favorite shows is canceled, but it’s also not a good feeling when a streamer or platform keeps a show going when it’s not popular or receives a lot of backlash. When it comes to Mindy Kaling’s Velma, it’s both.

Max has finally officially canceled Mindy Kaling’s Velma and honestly? Good riddance. Sorry not sorry, but it’s time to make way for shows people actually want to see. And the fall season is not the time to fool around, it’s when we expect the most from TV, especially streaming platforms.

Now, don’t get me wrong. The character of Velma was actually my favorite from the animated series Scooby-Doo. While everyone was stanning Daphne, I was all about Velma. I even picked up “jinkies!” and made it one of my go-to phrases. Did that make me cool at school?...

Ruh-roh! Max canceled the adult animated series Velma after two seasons
Image
Jinkies indeed! After two divisive seasons, Max won’t be renewing Mindy Kaling’s adult animated series Velma for another season. The show, starring Kaling as the voice of Velma Dinkley, lasted for two seasons before Max ripped off its mask, revealing a cancelation notice where a mustache-twirling villain’s head should be. The cancelation of Velma hits hard for fans of the series who genuinely enjoy Kaling’s unique spin on the Scooby gang and their darkly-themed misadventures.

“Over the past two seasons, Mindy [Kaling] and Charlie [Grandy] have created an incredibly fun and fresh world within the iconic whodunit franchise,” Max said in a statement. “While we won’t be moving forward with another season of the series, we thank them for their compelling coming-of-age storytelling, unrivaled clues, and hilarious hijinks.”

“Velma” won’t be returning for a third season at Max.

The streamer has opted not to renew the “Scooby-Doo” series for Season 3. The news comes months after the adult animated series, which starred and was executive produced by Mindy Kaling, debuted its second season in late April.

Reacher Gets Season 4 Renewal At Prime Video Ahead Of Season 3 Release
Image
Amid a TV landscape where shows seem to be cancelled almost as soon as they've arrived on our streaming service of choice (more on that here), a season renewal feels like real cause for celebration. But after a particularly naff few weeks in which we've seen The Acolyte, Kaos, and — as of about an hour ago — Max's adult toon Velma series get the chop, it's with great pleasure that we can share the news Prime Video's hugely popular action thriller series Reacher has landed a Season 4 renewal before its third series has even landed.

Since Reacher's arrival on Prime Video back in 2022, fans have been enthralled by the brawn and brains (and even more brawn!) of Alan Ritchson's police investigator Jack Reacher as the ex-military man has tackled complex conspiracies, dangerous drug operations, and the challenge of fitting those rippling biceps into all manner of shirts, jackets, and other more mortal-suited attire.

‘Velma’ Canceled After Two Seasons on Max
Image
Velma Dinkley has solved her last mystery (for now).

Max has canceled its animated series Velma after two seasons. The show’s second season debuted in April, and a Halloween special that premiered on Oct. 3 marks the final outing for the show.

Velma, created by Charlie Grandy (The Office, The Mindy Project), is a more adult-oriented prequel/reimagining of the brainy Scooby-Doo character. Mindy Kaling (who’s also an executive producer) voices Velma, who’s haunted by the disappearance of her mother and dealing with the perils of being a teenager along with solving mysteries.

“Over the past two seasons, Mindy and Charlie have created an incredibly fun and fresh world within the iconic whodunit franchise,” Max said in a statement. “While we won’t be moving forward with another season of the series, we thank them for their compelling coming-of-age storytelling, unrivaled clues, and hilarious hijinks.”
