The Cat Piano

for fans of cats and jazz and poetry - an inspired choice. because it is one of short films who seems be a drop of perfume. nothing more. nothing new. a voice. animation. a story - old and dark, few mystery crumbs and a lovely story about a circle of music, decadence and solidarity. result - nice entertainment. not memorable but nice. and this could be a precious virtue. for remind a blue state and the flavor of poetry.

The animation is simply gorgeous, having an excellent atmosphere and a lovely use of color from beginning to end.

The "film-noir" atmosphere was captured perfectly well here, both visually and in the narration by Nick Cave.

Honestly, it's a sad thing many people seem to believe traditional animation is dead, since stuff like this simply couldn't be replicated using CGI. I mean, while CGI has its own strenghts, and personally I'm not biased towards its use, it definately wouldn't have the same effect shorts like this has.

A wonderfully stylish mystery tale, far more deserving of appreciation. Totally recommended.

This has so much atmosphere and a sad and dark story to match. It may seem absurd to some, but the point is that cats are music and music thrived. But some entity took the cats for his own purposes. The poetic narration is the stuff that the 1940's black and white films were made of. I really enjoyed this and I am not all that fond of cats.
