First, Come Home is beautifully shot. The cinematography is spot on, and I could tell, early on, that the director needed to lean on that because there wasn't much of a story. I cannot comment on the acting because there was no real depth exhibited, or expected, from any of the actors. I tried to research the plot, but there was really nothing out there on the net. I suppose the movie is centered around a haunted forest that draws people in and doesn't let them out. This is just my speculation. I have no idea what the plot was all about because instead of building a competent story, the director feeds us these long, extended long-shots of the forest...doing nothing. I don't mind indie movies, and I do appreciate the collaborative effort needed to get a project green lighted and shot. But please, at least put forth some effort in the writing. Most of these indies have horrendous writing and the direction can't save it. I don't know why good scripts are lacking because there's tons of talented writers out there who want a chance to prove themselves.
4/10 - beautifully shot, but confusing.

The most irritating thing about this film is four adults getting lost in a second growth tree stand. It is completely absurd to set this mystical tale outside of an old growth forest where people could really get lost. Has anyone affiliated with this film EVER been hiking? It's like a group of little kids playing camp out in their grandparents old cabin.
The plot might have worked had these individuals done a few hours of research on a deserted stretch of wilderness and rustic camping. Also, the acting isn't terribly convincing. There are actors who could have carried off sudden delusion - maybe some method actors who had a bad trip before, instead of unconvincingly pretending to be insane.
I shouldn't even be writing a review for this film, but I am annoyed that I trusted in the setting and character development only to find that there are A LOT of really bad indie horror films on Amazon Prime.

Want a horror movie without color grading? What a horror movie that makes rural communities look racist? Want a horror movie that uses CapCut level editing? Want a horror movie where half the movie is shots of trees and water? Then this is the movie for you! This movie is sanctimonious, ignorant and just plain stupid. Idk how all these adults can come together to not only make it but to write it and this is their best effort. Some shots are good, some visuals are good. But this movie is a bore. It says it's a thriller but that's false advertising because there's no thrills at all. This movie is perfect for group settings to laugh at. The one man gets out of bed, goes to light a fire, goes outside and fallows a disembodied voice calling his name. No self preservation. Just lazy writing and lazy ideas. Tired tropes and bad decisions.
No idea what I just watched. No idea what any of it meant. I am thoroughly confused.
This was just over an hour long, but it honestly felt like it dragged out for hours.
Especially the extended scenes of just nature shots...so many nature shots.
Beautiful scenery but absolutely useless to any story. This feels like an art project with a bit too large of a budget.
And wtf was that "end"? I don't have any idea what happened and why.
Crazy bad.
