Netflix’s newest crime drama “Adolescence” has been a runaway hit, reaching 24.3 million views in its first four days of availability, making it the streamer’s top show for the week of March 10-16.

The series, hailing from the U.K. and following the family of a young boy accused of murder, was only surpassed in viewership by “The Electric State,” the Russo brothers’ sci-fi film starring Millie Bobby Brown and Chris Pratt, which led the Netflix Top 10 with 25.2 million views.

Back on the TV chart, “Running Point” came in second place with 6 million views in its third week of streaming. It was followed by “Zero Day” with 4.4 million views in its fourth week. “Beauty in Black” was fourth with 3.9 million views in the first full week of availability for the second part of Season 1 and its sixth week on the chart overall. “Adolescence” debuted as Netflix’s most-watched TV show of the week with an impressive audience for its opening weekend.

After debuting its four hour-long episodes on Thursday, March 13, “Adolescence” scored 24.3 million views through Sunday, March 16, making the limited series the most-watched TV show on Netflix during the week of March 10.

The opening weekend viewership for “Adolescence” outpaced that of other recent Netflix original series, including “The Night Agent” Season 2, which debuted to 13.9 million views, and “Zero Day,” which debuted to 19.1 million views during the week of Feb. 17. Likewise, “Running Point” scored 9.3 million views in its first week on the streamer.

Still, viewership for “Adolescence” was not enough to beat Millie Bobby Brown and Chris Pratt-led “The Electric State,” which debuted to 25.2 million views, ranking as the most-watched movie of the week on Netflix.

Today, Paramount+ announced that the hit original series Tulsa King will return for a third season. Season three production has commenced this week in Atlanta and Oklahoma.

Tulsa King season two ranked as a top 10 SVOD original series across all SVODs for Q4 alongside Paramount+ originals Landman and Lioness. This marks only the second time since Nielsen began tracking SVODs (Q3–17) that a service had three of the top 10 series aside from Netflix.

The second season of the series had 21.1 million global streaming viewers for the premiere episode and set a new record for Paramount+ as the most-watched global premiere at the time for any series in Paramount+ history.

Additionally, Season two logged a record 159 million views and 6.1 million engagements on social.

A group of New York public employee pension funds were hoping to halt the merger in its tracks, but they did succeed in speeding up the schedule for their case.

Paramount Global and Skydance officials can breathe a little easier this morning. A judge in Maryland Chancery Court has ruled that the merger of the two companies will not be paused while the court considers a lawsuit brought by five New York public employee pension funds. The case will be put on an accelerated timeline, however, as uncertainty still looms regarding the merger’s approval by the FCC.

Key Details: The plaintiffs in the suit had been seeking a temporary restraining order to halt the merger process. The accelerated pace of the trial is intended to wrap up the case before an April 7 deadline. FCC approval of the merger is potentially being held up by political concerns. One of the more entertaining parts of the Paramount+ catalog of work Taylor Sheridan is making is his Yellowstone prequels and their expansion of Western television. While fans love the story of John Dutton and his ranching empire, getting to see the Dutton family during different periods in history has been a great way to allow Sheridan to play in the pure classical Western genre. The best example of this is obviously with 1883, which takes place during a time when the "Old West" was very prominent in America. However, even his follow-up, 1923, is riddled with classical Western themes and stylistic elements intentionally to depict the West during a time it is not often depicted. There is a rise of modernity that is clear and present in 1923 and that's the fun of the series: seeing how it clashes with the old-time traditions of the American West.

Every day, it seems as if there are more problems popping up for the merger of Paramount Global and Skydance Media. The merger faces multiple lawsuits, a review by the FCC that could be fraught with political implications, and plenty of skepticism from the market at large. On Monday, one of those lawsuits potentially opened the door for the transaction to fall apart completely. A ruling from Chancellor Kathaleen McCormick of the Delaware Chancery Court could send Paramount into a bidding war if all the dominos fall the right way.

To say that the merger between Paramount Global and Skydance Media has been a fraught would be a decided understatement. That review hasn’t made much progress, according to new FCC chairman Brendan Carr, who says the process is far from wrapping up.

In case you missed it, Yellowstone has been slowly rolling out onto Netflix around the globe for the past year or so. It began with select regions in early 2024 before further drops in late 2024 and early 2025. As February dwindles and March nears, more of the biggest companies in media will begin reporting their quarterly earnings. Beginning Sunday, March 16, “Yellowstone” Season 5 Part 2 will begin streaming exclusively on Peacock, making all then entire series available to stream on Peacock.

The streaming date comes nearly three months after “Yellowstone” concluded its fifth season, with its Season 5 finale airing on Paramount Network on Dec. 15. “Yellowstone” returned to air Season 5 Part 2 on Sunday, Nov. 10 after a nearly two-year break between the end of the first half of Season 5.

Since Season 5 Part 2 began airing in November, there has been no place to stream “Yellowstone,” unless viewers buy episodes on other streaming platforms. Despite being a Paramount Network show, “Yellowstone” has a streaming deal with Peacock, which was established prior to the creation of Paramount+.

When Yellowstone ended in Dec. 2024, it was probably not much of a surprise that Taylor Sheridan wasn’t completely saying goodbye to the hit franchise he created. There are two direct spinoffs available to stream, as well as a number of projects teased or actively in the works. The latest is an upcoming spinoff starring Kelly Reilly & Cole Hauser, who will reprise their Yellowstone roles in the as-yet-untitled series.

The suit is being brought by five different New York City employee pension funds, which say Paramount did not properly consider a new buyout offer.

Paramount’s legal division is stacking billable hours, these days. The company faces multiple legal challenges to its merger deal with Skydance Media, and another lawsuit has arisen to try and halt the transaction in its tracks. The Wrap reports that Paramount is being sued by five pension funds representing New York City employees, who want to pause the Skydance merger until Paramount has sufficiently reviewed a $13.5 billion offer from Project Rise Partners (Prp) which arose in late January.

Key Details: The lawsuit says that Paramount failed in its duty to shareholders by not sufficiently considering the offer from Project Rise Partners. Prp’s bid pays Class B shareholders more than Skydance’s offer would but does not reward Paramount controlling shareholder Shari Redstone as richly.

"1883" was the limited series that saw where the Dutton family tree took root and it just so happened to come with its own train station.
