Eyes of Wakanda

It's okay! If you've seen Predator: Killer of Killers, Spiderverse, or Arcane, this one might not impress you as much. It was decent for the most part, but the stories weren't particularly amazing-they were just average.

That said, I did enjoy the fight scenes and the tech; those were definite highlights.

One thing I honestly couldn't stand was the accent-it was horrendous. Why couldn't they just speak in a native tongue like the Japanese or Italians do in this same series? Instead, they went with this awkward, forced English accent that just didn't work.

Here again for a new Marvel product that no one asked for but that came out.

It's hard to think about who approves all these projects these days, and no one realizes that what the MCU needed was to get back to its roots so it could be reborn.

Is "Eyes of Wakanda" a bad series? No, it isn't.

Is it an unnecessary series? Absolutely.

It's with this premise that I sat down to watch the series, and it's really not bad. It has interesting points, expands the lore and history of Wakanda over hundreds of years, and even has a time-travel episode that ties in with the first film.

However, let's be honest, no one is going to watch this series, and just as there was no promotion for it, it will pass unnoticed on streaming. Only MCU fans and content creators will dedicate a few lines to it and then move on to more interesting projects.

All this makes me wonder if there's a future for this universe. After all, "Avengers: Doomsday" is just around the corner, and everything that preceded it and the current news suggests a huge disaster.

That must be why "Eyes of Wakanda" will be underrated despite having a couple of interesting concepts and many good things.

Marvel Studios' Eyes Of Wakanda is a four-part anthology series, with each episode following a different Wakandan War Dog during different time periods. With the nice animation, good action, well thought-through stories and interesting characters, it's a moderately entertaining mini-series that expands nicely on the lore of the Wakanda in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

It may not necessarily be a good series, but it's definitely enjoyable. Unfortunately, there are way better ways to pass a couple of hours, and the contents of this series could quite easily be summarised in a 60-second video on YouTube or TikTok. Because of this, I wouldn't recommend it to casual fans. I'd only suggest that you watch it if you're a hardcore fan of the MCU, or you're a fan of Marvel Comics (because Episode 3 made me very happy as someone that's been a life-long fan of a particular mystical character).

The series presents 4 episodes of Watchdogs, Wakandan field agents that go out into the world across different times and places, to recover the technology that has somehow left their secure and hidden land. For example, showing how Wakanda assisted the invasion of Troy.

It is a beautiful-looking short series, that offers little of interest. The action is good, but the delivery of the lines doesn't match the energy presented. The "missions" have a few elements (like other characters from the comics) that are basically required to bring some kind of excitement.. but even still, these stories can be willfully ignored by fans without losing anything at all.

If you have time to spare, I'd recommend it. As an MCU fan, I personally couldn't care less aside from the colorful visuals.

I'm not a huge fan of anthologies, especially spinoffs, yet this one is surprisingly solid. The animation style is really awesome & in the vain of throwback 2D Disney art. The stories do some interesting things with this country to build out their impact in the MCU. The historical fiction is exciting to have woven into this franchise. Not necessary but a fun little project that is better than most Marvel Animation.
