Wein really seems like a glutton for punishment that can never take things seriously. From war to marriage talks, his main goal is just getting out of everything. Despite his avoidance and desperate attempts to run away from anything serious, he just seems to constantly land himself deeper and deeper into more responsibility - all while being a victim of all the powerful women in his life. All very amusing.
Genius Prince is a rather hilarious yet intriguing and compelling anime that kind of reminds me of the original Fire Emblem game on GBA but an anime. It's always great to see how Prince Wein pulls surprises out of nowhere during the battles and wins the day. But it's also great to see him freak out or whenever he gets spotted in a lie, so funny. The battles are really cool to watch and how they explain and show how Wein accomplishes his goals. The explanation of the military maneuvering of soldier placement makes for a great part of the story. His relationships he has with the people he knows is hilarious, heartwarming but also striking whenever he has an enemy right where he wants them: right in the palm of his hand, being able make them a pawn in his impeccable military strategies. This is an anime that would be recommended for the action adventure/fantasy/comedy lovers. It's very enjoyable.
This is one of those series where the main character seems to be lazy, but is actually secretly a genius. The episodes themselves are pretty interesting, and there are many moments where an unexpected event takes place. The characters throughout the series have different personalities and special characteristics to each of them individually which leaves it up to the audience to determine for themselves who is their favorite character. If you enjoy intellectual animes, with a hint of comedy and adventure with a "cool" main character who seems to be uninteresting, but is actually a genius, this is definitely one of the best animes to check out.
Fun, unique, and underrated at the moment. It's the best of its kind the animation is not poor the characters are balanced and realistic, every episode is eventful and worth watching on its own, it succeeded in what the other shows of the same gender failed. It mirrors reality of politics and how the medieval world worked from schemes to warfare and religion even if it failed to really display the ugliness and cruelty of it that's not what you would wait from a comedy and fun tv show but the diary of a historical figure .
The show has been adapted from a manga which further was adapted from light novel of the same name by Toru Tuba.
The show has some of the best plot twists and interesting character arcs. The characters are also really captivating and one would enjoy to wonder what might be going in their heads.
The animation was fine in terms of visual and score. Nothing to complain there.
However, there was a huge missing piece in the series as compared to the light novel. The light novel seems to go deeper into its characters and the world; the show, it seems, fears all of these things for whatever reasons. Maybe it was time constraint or something else, but as a fan of the light novel, I was dissatisfied to not see what I expected on screen.
The story seemed rushed. It would be a 10 out of 10 if the pacing was a little slow. Expect great things for season 2.
I would say if you enjoyed it as did I, read the books, they will engross you into the world of Natra, Wein and Ninym.
