adventures. crumbs of Golden Century of Spain. not real convincing but nice. a film who reminds a lot of Romantic heroes. and who preserves the flavor of classic justice maker portrait. the script is not surprising. the performances are decent. but it has a basic virtue who defines its charm - the respect for the old recipes. in strange manner, that does it seductive. because it propose a different Zorro and Don Quijote, a not bad image of Spanish social categories, a mixture of religion and politic who is far to be credible but seems define contemporary cases. a film who has many ways. and who has the courage to give, with a low budget, a slice of a historical period in a not boring style. it is not Hollywood but it is a good product. simple, naive, touching, for kids and for the admirers of old fashion stories.
Well this is literally the first Spanish series I started watching back in 2012 when I was a teenager. To be honest I loved it from the beginning watching first episodes but due to some problems I could only watch it until season 7. The main reason I stopped watching it, was the TV Channel ( Gem TV ) that stopped dubbing the rest of the series; so since I don't understand Spanish I started looking for subtitles for the last two seasons but I ended up with nothing! There weren't even English subtitles! So I gave up until few days ago after some years I noticed some of my Persian countrymen ( Aguila Roja fans ) have recently made subtitles for the rest of the series. I can't be happier. And in the end I recommend this series to those who love history, sword fightings, drama, comedy and action all in just one package.
Just catching up with this show and working my way across Spanish, still loving every second.
After Gonzalos' wife is killed he becomes a hero for his people. interesting, full of action and a good view of the amazing "Siglo De Oro" of Spain. there are few things that might now be accurate, still some of them will bother you while most of them you pay no attention to, there's something for everyone intrigue, deceit, great action scenes and a great story.
for many is going to be a new El Zorro but its so much better, i've seen kids excited about this show that can't speak five words in Spanish. you have to watch it to enjoy it, you have to enjoy it to understand it, you have to understand it to love it.
and I love it already

This is a series that started slow and maybe the Soap Opera video quality of the visuals can take some people down but as soon the series go, People will have the opportunity to watch a great adventure series with great characters, great cinematography, great costumes and a lot of fun. I am already on season 3 of 8 season of one of the most popular series in Spain. If you like The Musketeers, The Zorro and other similar series you will love this one. I really recommend the series for all the people who love great international television. You can find it on Netflix right now! Give it a try! There is not a lot of this kind of series on TV right now!
It's pretty difficult to describe what people do in other parts of the world when you have no idea what that part of the world is or how their people are. Lots of criticism came to this fantastic series because it was not like the American ones people are used to.
RTVE is the largest and publicly owned radio and TV conglomerate of Spain. And, for many years, the only option. The only one with money to make a series. But they never had anything close to Aguila Roja. This one goes over the top and more.
A very handsome, educated and able man is the avenger of the people in a time of extreme poverty, overwhelming power in the hands of kings and the church and little to no education. That's the setting for this "Siglo de Oro" series. Now in its 9th year, it obviously has many flaws and sometimes even goes backward. But, all in all, it's a very enjoyable thing to watch with tons of period props, dresses, historical references, love affairs and the omnipresent doom of the powers to be lingering in the air the people of Madrid had to breath. The fights are the centerpiece of almost all episodes and they're done beautifully with weapons of the age.
It will even take you through many of the torture machines of the time and their crooked uses.
Enjoyable!
