First of all, the best thing about this movie is soundtrack. The music is a bit unsettling, but beautiful. The second thing i like was some of the scenes, i'm talking about image specifically, the light and this cinematic vibe. However, the movie was build on poor storyline and was not scary at all. More than that there are some poorly executed effects that actually ruin all the best parts, i belive the ending editing could have been done much better. I would say it is mediocrate, but actors tried their best. Would i recommend it for a Halloween watch? Not likely but I have seen worse than that, so if u are into this concept you could probably try to watch it and i think you'll end up with exact same thoughts i have.
No pun intended - I don't think that all the twists work and it really has some ... stuff in it, that does not work at all. But you have to admire the actors who try their best to pull off the insanity that was written for them. Quite a lot of cliches thrown in for good measure and a lot of things that I would like not being exposed to.
Of course our main female character is special ... very special! Innuendos and beauty of the flesh aside, it feels like there is almost no chemistry between our leads ... you understand why he wants her ... but then he doesn't even ... I mean come on, if he risks everything, he should be able to ... well you know what ... but anyway. I won't delve into it. Most twists can be guessed to say the least .. and acting wise this really has some ... insane moments ...

I honestly can say that the acting in itself was a bit mediocre, the lines, the cliches, everything was fine at the least.
The music did make me feel something, the music was terrifying and led you in, I feel the music in every single part in this movie is very well done and terrifying.
If you love and understand the underlying reason and beauty of music you will very much find this movie accelerating your heartbeat.
I recommend this movie to people who love music and find feeling in it, for this music will lead you in and make you feel terrified, and constantly looking behind your shoulder in the theatre to see if the piper is there. This music will make you shiver.

In which Estée Lauder model, Liz Hurley, takes on a demonic flutist in Chermany.
Liz plays 'Liz' (!), a schoolteacher landed a job at a school in - gasp! - Hamelin. That's right, rats, corrupt council etc. You won't believe it - well, you will, it's here - but the legendary pest controller is still around, punishing wrong-doers via their children.
Plucky Liz-Liz starts investigating the odd goings-on. Her daughter seems to get the worst of it with nasty visions and unevenness until she befriends a German gypsy - with a Scots accent - who has all the answers.
'The Piper' has too much 'Woman in Black' to be taken seriously. The excellent cinematography and strong music score deserve a better film. To be fair, there's potential for a decent comedy here. Liz is quite restrained - even when she's trying to kill a bunch of rats with a flip-flop - she's not as fervid as usual. One or two gags are tried, dumb delivery bashes them to the floor, but you can see what the film-makers are getting at. There's a funny scene in an asylum, tho what Liz-Liz is doing there is anyone's guess, and judging by her expression, she doesn't know either.
The film's worst horror is Liz-Liz's frumpy wardrobe of baggy knitwear and ghastly ankle boots. I'm surprised the Lauders didn't intervene. Good news she's found a niche in genre movies, she can take over from Roxanne Carrion, who's MIA. With Rox having ruled herself out, Hurley may yet make a good one . . one day.

This movie had everything the climax was outstanding, the storyline was to a t, the music was perfect and had a great toon, and everything was well put together. This film was so amazing I hope to see a part 2 of this with the same cast and all because I need what happened after that end credit scene and need to know what's going to happen next. And to say anything else about this film was beyond astounding because it's talking about sides of this tale and weather or not if the piper was a vengeful hero or just another boogeyman tale. To every story there are many tales told but one lies the truth and hopefully see it in a part 2 and titled Piper "The next Note".
