The people that are giving this show bad reviews really don't know what they are talking about. I don't want to assume but I feel that most of the hate comes from the show being bilingual. I hope they get a season 2. I'm invested now.
I can't believe these bad reviews. This show is charming and lovely and funny. It's my new favorite show. It's feel good tv to escape this horrible world for a moment. Do not believe the negative comments. The lead man is handsome and charismatic. Watch the show for yourself and decide.
Main character is adorable. This is a sweet goofy show. Not a serious series so take it for what it is.
I honestly don't understand the bad reviews. I get if you don't find the resort pool-boy setting interesting, but 1 star?? It feels like some of these people just don't like Apple focusing on a Mexican family. It's not even all Spanish.
Anyway, the show is pretty simple, with an older version of the main character narrating the story to his grandson, which is a bit cliched, but the story has heart and I found myself laughing a few times.

Don't get the negativity. If it's too "woke" it's bad. If it's too "simple" it's bad. If it's too "deep" it's bad. What's wrong with a light hearted simple comedy like this these days? Nothing.
This is just a rehash of an old stereotypical story of a Mexican guy becoming rich, except that's kind the point, the comedy is supposed to come from this because parts of it are silly as older Maximo tries to tell the story of how he got to be rich while kind of embellishing the story (which takes place in the 80s in a resort in Acapulco) and telling it to a young kid. Light hearted simple stuff. Pretty solid if that's what you're after and nicely filmed.
I think what the real problem is Apple doesn't market these shows well. The trailers give no real sense of what it is, who it's for, or even do a good job of making the show attractive to any audience let alone it's target.
