Entertaining and spine chilling! Great fun to watch!

It's been a long time since I've seen anything that gave me a genuine shiver up my spine, but watching this was a fantastic step back to my youth, like watching the old British horror movies. The animation is fantastic, the score fits in well and adds to the general ambiance of the movie as well.

In case you're wondering, I really enjoyed this film.

The animation was well done. I liked the colour palette used and the artwork used in the movie enhanced rather than overpowered the scenes. The plot was good, with an interesting twist at the end. The acting was superb and the costumes were great as well. I'd definitely like to see what this director could do with a big budget.

My only complaint? It was too short!

Awesome short, Brings This Legend to life.

Beautifully rendered and sensitively paced, dark, deep and with a nasty surprise. All you need from an animated short. This is the third animation I have seen By Thorpe and the progression his work has taken is astonishing. He clearly has a fixation and fascination with some of the darker corners of English history and this passion is translated well through his chosen medium. In this case he has taken the historical ghost story of the Screaming Skull and given it new voice and depth by injecting fresh narrative. working out the concept to a new and horrible conclusion.

The voices heard on the soundtrack belong to Sue Tilbrook (who also appeared in Scayrecrow (2008) as Eleanor Tawney) and her eldest son Joshua Taylor.

Alternate versions
A shorter edit exists, specifically made for the 'Screen out loud' awards as part of 'Animated Exeter'. It clocks in at approximately 8 minutes 30 (as opposed to the regular 9 minutes 58. The main cuts are to the opening titles and the final POV sequence.
