The Super8 Diaries (2008)

The Super 8 Diaries is an ambitious project undertaken by filmmakers Matt Richards and Jeremy Rouse between 2004 and 2007 to document the music and community around them. This short 16minute film introduces the viewer to the project and is an excellent starting point before diving into the almost 2.5 hours of live footage and interviews.

11 bands, one song each shot on super 8 film. In a world where you can shoot a video on your phone of your drunk mates putting someone in an otto bin and wheeling into a half empty pool and upload it to Youtube for free, it takes dedication and something more, something special to see a colossal venture like this through to the end.

The documentation of these eleven bands is a one of a kind. The interviews provide an insight into a very underground world.
