2 Harihar Nagar is the sequel to the well-known hit movie In Harihar Nagar. It is a comedy thriller drama. It fails to maintain the quality of the prequel. However, it is still recommended and can be viewed once. The second half of the movie engages the audience with exciting content and unexpected twists.
After a considerable period of time, the four friends reunite for the marriage of one of them. Subsequently, the narrative premises shift to focus on the protagonists' experiences of humour and enjoyment. Later, a female character is introduced into their lives. The film's initial half depicts their efforts to establish contact with this character, which ultimately succeeds. However, in the second half, the mode shifts to a thriller. The same female character then resorts to treachery against them, resulting in their capture by antagonists. These antagonists seek to recover money bag that was lost to them in the prequel. The film's engaging climax is characterised by twists.
The initial portion of the film is marred by an abundance of poorly conceived comedic scenes. It is recommended that the casting of Salim Kumar and Atlas Ramachandran be reconsidered, as their performances are lackluster and detract from the overall quality of the film. Conversely, the remaining performances are noteworthy and contribute positively to the film's overall impact.
Moreover, all musical numbers, including remixes and background scores, are worthy of commendation.

2 Harihar Nagar is a very good entertainer packed with great humor and a engaging story. Lal makes a very good debut as an independent director. He succeeds in bringing back the magic of In Harihar Nagar. The best thing about the movie is the chemistry between the four central characters. Jagdish steals the show just like he did in the first one with most of the funny lines to his credit.
It is very difficult to make a good sequel to a film that over the years has gained cult status. But Lal doesn't disappoint. The story is engaging and lal makes it better with some great humor.
However if you are expecting a classic just like the first one you might be slightly disappointed. This is a very good sequel to a classic film but just misses out of being a classic. This film misses out on the simplicity the first one had. But anyway this film makes for a very engaging watch. Don't miss it......You will regret.

It's definitely the Director's movie. Lal excelled in all aspects; story, script, direction etc. Movie starts with a flashback how our heroes become friends in a believable way. Then titles appears with Harihar Nagar old version scenes insets. Now you're all set for the fun ride. Appukkuttan (Jadadish) is still the same as you've seen 18 years ago! (how can one ever forget 'kaakka thoori') Somewhere before first half ends, you might predict that Maya (Laxmi Rai) character could be the old villain John Honai's (Riza Bava) daughter came to revenge the four. And at the interval scene Maya discloses her name as 'Christina Honai'. And you'll sit back proud thinking 'yes I've been watching movies for years I knew what will happen'. But wait...that's where our Director rocks. What really surprise you is the suspense towards the end!
go and watch it with family. Laugh like kids.

The first movie was a sensation in Kerala. A mallu who has not seen the movie - In Harihar Nagar is rare to find.To make a sequel after 18 years is a difficult task. Lal has triumphed in that matter to a great extent.
After 18 years Mahadevan(Mukesh),Govindan Kutty(Siddique),Thomas Kutty(Ashokan) and Appukuttan(Jagadish) have become professionals and are settled in different parts of the country. All of them return to Harihar Nagar to attend the engagement of Thomas Kutty who is the only remaining bachelor in the group. They meet Maya(Lakshmi Rai) who soon becomes the centre of their attention. All four who are desperate for a change from their family life try to impress her.Like before they end up in trouble.
The second half is rather serious and much more sentimental.Plus there are lot of twists towards the end of the movie. Some characters in the movie were totally unnecessary.Like Atlas - Ramachandran. If he is not the producer I guess he might have paid the real one to get the role. Salim Kumar's talent was totally wasted.
I went to the cinema with high expectations on the first day itself. I really enjoyed the first half of the movie. But the second half was not upto the mark. There is no doubt that the movie will become a hit. But it can never be compared to the first one.

2 Harihar Nagar has it's moments. When i heard about this movie being made, i was sceptical. The Idea of sequels has not worked out that well in Malayalam . Rather it had tarnished the reputation of the original. Take the case of Kilukkam . Boy that was such a crap. I believed in Lal,he knows the pulse of the audience. But i wouldn't say the movie is awesome. The movie is a comedy and it delivers unlike the the other "comedies" churning out nowadays . I hated stripping down of Jagadeesh's character to a superficial idiot. That was merciless. In the original he was more of a likable fool But in this he is an irritating moron, just for the sake of some stupid lines and slapstick comic sequences.
What the hell is Salim Kumar doing in this movie? 100 % pure Garbage.
Alex Paul's Music is pathetic.Remix of the original song was cool! Script by Lal was messy during the second half.He was deliberately and desperately trying to surprise the audience exceeding the limits!
And when the climax reveals the intentions of the "Villain ", you can only say
"You could have just asked them ?"
Oh!BTW Lakhmi Rai looks gorgeous and that's all i can say about her!I totally forgot about her or is it worth mentioning?

Did you know
- TriviaActor Siddique who was one of the main lead in the movie In Harihar Nagar (1990) approached Lal to make a sequel, but he didn't consider it seriously. At that time Lal happened to attend his own school reunion function, and he was amazed by the experience. He then wanted to reunite with his cast members from the original film, and planned to make a sequel.
