A very excellent movie

I live in Ellington, and have seen The Supermarket many times. For a low-budget film, it is surprisingly well done. It is a very funny movie as well. Tim Norman knows how to make a comedy-drama film, and I only hope he can make more.

Ellington Supermarket was a part of my life. My parents shopped there, it was where we would go every Friday to buy our groceries. When it closed, it was like it created a little hole in my heart that remained unoccupied until this film came along to preserve its memory. Ellington Supermarket will never truly be gone, as long as this film is around to memorialize it.

Though the film was originally meant to serve as a warning to the residents of Ellington that the Supermarket would close and the once-rural town would face severe consequences if the big box store opened, by the time production started up again in the summer of 2006 it was too late. The big box store's construction was well under way and it was known that the Ellington Supermarket would be closing its doors at an undetermined point in the summer. Thus the filmmakers devoted the entire first half of production solely to interior shooting, racing to complete all necessary scenes before the Supermarket closed, at many points hiding signs of emptying shelves.
