But hear me out: first of all, the effect are simply laughable, bad, incredibly weak and cheap, even for an 80's movie! I know it sounds like a joke, but it's not, bear this in mind, the effects will be something to bring a smile instead of fascination or anything else. Secondly, the ending will look rather stupid, but it takes a little patience, cause there is more than meets the eye.
Now that I put down the bad parts, let me tell you why I would recommend it: it lacks jump scares, but it has that old school tension, it frightens you as you watch and see what happens, your eyes are stuck to the glass and your heart rate is growing, little by little. It made me feel like an 14 years old kid again, watching his first scary "in the woods" movie. So for this great touch, I graded it a 6, sure, some will say it's way too much, but for me it really did the trick. Got me wanting more, waiting patiently to see what happens next, even the ending was something I craved for. So I was there, from the beginning to its end, felt quite good too. It was like a blast in the past, and for that I am thankful to everyone involved in the making of "Demon Legacy".
Now that you know what to expect, it's up to you to decide if you'll take it for a watch or not, but I'm telling you, it's great for a late night movie, alone or with friends, with something to chew on and some drinks. It made my night!
Cheers!

I enjoyed it. I did. I am a big fan of horror and i have seen "almost" all horror movies.
First, for futur filmmakers, Do not use CGI if you can use good old school effects. Don't be lazy.
Pros: The girls were sexy and scary! Just a bit of boobs. Not a lot of gore, but OK. Great picture quality, it surprised me.
Cons: coherence of plot and of characters. CGI Some Scenes look to clean.
Not for everybody, there are better movies available, but for a fan of B movies. It was good.

I had to write a review because I needed to stop anyone from attempting to watch this crap. I love B movies and there were a few good moments, (Ranger did his thing) but the annoyance with Michelle and her bad acting, pissed me off. Haunting at Foster Cabin "had" potential, but fell short trying too much.
I don't care how much an eager actress is jerking her body around, covered in make up and with the camera sped up. If the young lady in question is naked or even just topless then the effect is just humourous.
And that pretty much sums up the entire film. Which, if they hadn't tried to play it straight, might have made for an enjoyable schlocky romp. Instead, you just watch disbelievingly as actresses try to deliver lines like "Oh my gosh, there is nothing up here but trees" with a straight face and then sing a "dare song" at each other when the plot needs one of them to do something stupid but the writers couldn't figure out how else to have them do it.
And as for the ending ... well, this review doesn't contain spoilers but suffice to say the ending is worse than anything I've already covered.
The only thing that stops me from giving this film a 1 is that some of the actresses are really trying very hard. It's just a shame that the rest of the film wasn't worthy of their efforts.
I had never heard about this 2014 horror movie titled "Demon Legacy" prior to sitting down here in 2022 to watch it. And of course I had to watch it on the account of it being a horror movie that I hadn't already seen.
Director Rand Vossler delivered something that felt a tad too much inspired by the classic "Evil Dead" movies. But hey, if you haven't already seen the original 1981 "Evil Dead" movie then you might actually find a shred of enjoyment and entertainment in "Demon Legacy". However, I have seen "Evil Dead" many times, so "Demon Legacy" wasn't really cutting it for me.
The storyline in the movie was pretty straight forward, although somewhat on the generic and boring side, if I have to be honest. And I actually started to drift off around an hour into the foray. So yeah, this movie wasn't really entertaining me.
Of the entire cast ensemble in "Demon Legacy", I was only familiar with John Savage, and he wasn't in the movie for all that long. And that was a shame, because he could have spruced up the movie, and trust me, that was necessary, and the movie would have benefitted from having John Savage more on the screen.
Visually then "Demon Legacy" was adequate. I mean, you're not in for anything grand here in terms of special effects or CGI, but whatever special effects were in the movie actually served their purpose well enough. But again, a watered down "Evil Dead" movie is what comes to mind here.
If you are a newcomer to the horror genre, then you might get some kind of entertainment out of this 2014 horror movie. But for a horror veteran such as myself, then "Demon Legacy" was a mere walk in the park.
My rating of "Demon Legacy" lands on a generous three out of ten stars.

- TriviaAfter burning a prop Ouji board, a series of catastrophic events plagued the production, including a blizzard, a fire (an actress' hair was singed) a flood, sets being destroyed, loss of funding, and loss of cast. The producers actually had two spiritual advisers come in to cleanse the bad mojo from the project.
- GoofsWhile characters hide in a neighbouring house, about 45-50 minutes in, they hear others on the roof. Those same others are then seen running through the woods before actually being seen on the roof.
