The Social Doctor

It took me a while to understand what was going on in this movie, but once I've understood I was literally shocked! (In a good way). Couldn't stop laughing from the very first minute, the story is a fresh, bold and clever description of our relationship with social media, but what is different in this movie is that the social media for the first come inside the real life. In this movie, people act in real life like if they were on the socials, reacting to what people say exactly like the 6 Facebook emoticons. On top of that, the performances are on point, the dialogue is outrageously funny, and the final twist is absolutely genius. Loved all of it!

I have to say it, I'm not usually into social media related movies as I'm more a period drama kinda person. But this little gem really surprised me! The orange street lamp color grading vibe immediately catches you and brings you into this little trip between typical social media characters (which you can easily find in real life) mocked with a funny and never offensive dose of punch lines. The Directing style is definitely engaging, especially thanks to the continuous whip pans that merged with a clever sound design, make a completely static film feel like an action movie! Only thing I would suggest to the director is to use more over the shoulder shots next time, just to give it a little bit more depth when the characters talk. Other than that, I must say well done everyone!

Lockdown gets everyone very engaged on social media. This comedy short by Matteo Valentini has twist after turn after twist where he mocks and ridicules typical cliches. Well worth the watch. But beware the twist ending!
