There have been many studies proving horses help ASD children/people as well as people with MS. Even though I find some of the aspects of this movie far fetched, it sure beats most of the garbage filled movies being produced these days. I would love to know the true story. Horses do have a calming effect on people which can help with healing. I call them my Xanax. Just being around them can lift your spirits when you've had a rough day. I would definitely recommend this movie. It may not be good for younger children due to the intensity of the tornado scene and the pyromaniac character. It's a tear jerker.
I don't have a child with autism but if I did I would be insulted by the ignorance of the writers/producers. Autism is not a disease to be cured. It can be treated and managed and helped, including with methods like working with animals, but it's not a sickness to be cured.
And I don't suppose they went into this expecting to get any Oscars for acting (and I didn't watch it expecting any Oscar worthy acting), but couldn't they have found a better child actor for the autistic character?
Was just hoping for a little feelgood, Heartland type vibes, but the movie didn't produce, unfortunately. I liked the female actors though.

Cheesy movie and subpar acting, but I really enjoyed it. The movie could have been better with better actors. No Academy Awards here, but the movie has a great message. We need more feel-good movies like this.
This movie treats autism as an illness that needs to be cured. Just feels off to me. They go on about finding a "cure," and "healing" the autistic child and it's feels distasteful... especially since the child actor seems to be a neuro-typical boy playing on common stereotypes. Lastly, I'd consider the acting fairly good for the budget of the movie. Reminds me of a hallmark movie overall, but with a few offensive undertones.

Great family film! We definitely need more movies like this, so inspiring and based on a true story. Beautiful cinematically. The kids in the movie and the horses really make the film. Love the horses' personalities! Love the fight scene, the townspeople, the chemistry between Bethany and Jason characters, and the scene with Jason and the horse recovering. John Schneider is great as the town sheriff. Tornado scene is really cool. Beautiful scenes fly fishing. Music is great. Overall, a very uplifting film. Recommend for families.
