Sheryl

Great indie with a good message and fantastic music. The lead actress is phenomenal as well. A lot of very funny moments. The audience definitely cracked up many times and I can see why this won. I hope this gets a bigger release so horror fans can check it out.

It reminded me a bit of Texas Chainsaw Massacre obviously (you'll understand after seeing the film... no spoilers here) but total opposite in tone. It's very much a fun horror movie more in the vein of Evil Dead 2 or Tucker and Dale vs. Evil except lower budget but still quite good. Humor isn't easy to pull off but they did it with flying colors.

The indie film "Sheryl" directed by Justin Best, takes audiences on a bold, satirical horror ride through the twisted standards of beauty in modern society. The films strikes a balance of gore and humor, keeping the audience engaged from start to finish. Anthea Neri Best's portrayal of Sheryl, was exceptional, her ability to switch between charming and chilling with just a creepy smile is tone setting. Sheryl offers a unique narrative that parodies classic horror motifs with references to iconic films like "The Texas Chain Saw Massacre." Sheryl is an unmissable film that showcases the creative potential within indie cinema.

This is the top of the mountain when it comes to indie film making! It's a fun ride with so much heart and honesty. The production value is amazing with beautiful framing, lighting camera work and everything comes together to create a wonderful and unique feeling of dread while also keeping it light hearted when the situation calls for it. The main actress does a phenomenal job in the roll and makes the audience relate to and sympathize with her character, even tho she is doing some truly gruesome acts.

This movie brings the emotion, the story and most importantly it brings the blood!! This is a true horror movie, however, this is also the kind of movie that will make fans out of non horror movie lovers! Can not recommend this movie enough for horror fans and non horror fans alike!!

What better way to call much needed attention to society's pervasive expectation that a woman look and behave a certain way, than a psychopathic, rage-filled (and extremely fun to watch) blood-bath of a horror movie? Having grown up on Freddy K, Jason V, and Michael M., SHERYL is a slasher horror film much enjoyed by this 80's kid! But pull back some layers and you also find an all important message that hell-hath-no-fury-like-a-woman who has been made to believe she isn't enough! SHERYL isn't just beautifully shot, it's also well directed and to say Anthea Neri Best "kills it" in the titular role would be an understatement. Her revenge path is a bloody damn good ride!

This movie was so much fun!!! I was privileged enough to see Sheryl at Horrorhound Filmfest and met Sheryl herself, Anthea Neri-Best, as well as director Justin Best. Their movie is such a wild ride but at its heart has a meaningful message. Less Texas Chainsaw Massacre, more MAY. On the surface, it is definitely a great horror comedy with some awesome kills, but on a deeper level, this movie really resonates with any woman that has had to deal with societal pressures, gaslighting and body image issues. It is girl power for horror fans. Absolutely cannot wait for this to be seen by the masses.
