The third season of Taylor Sheridan's mob drama Tulsa King is expanding its cast with new additions. Just a couple of days ago, we learned the series would be returning for a third season, and now we're learning about two actors who will join the Sylvester Stallone-led series. Robert Patrick(of Terminator 2: Judgment Day fame) and Beau Knapp have joined the series in villainous roles (via Deadline), so we can expect a face off against Stallone's Dwight "The General" Manfredi.
Tulsa King, created by Sheridan, stars the Rocky and Rambo actor as Manfredi, a New York mafia capo exiled to Tulsa, Oklahoma, after a prison release, to build a criminal empire. The show, which streams on Paramount+, premiered in 2022 and has garnered critical acclaim.
Patrick, who is best known for his iconic role as the T-1000, the shape-shifting antagonist in James Cameron's 1991 Terminator sequel Terminator 2: Judgment Day,...

While it once seemed improbable, it looks like Coyote vs. Acme may soon be coming to a theater near you!
According to Deadline, Ketchup Entertainment is in advanced negotiations to acquire the animated/live-action hybrid feature from Warner Bros, in a deal that's estimated to be in the $50 million range. The independent distributer-financier previously rescued The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie, which is currently playing in theaters.
In recent years, Ketchup has also been behind the releases of Weekend in Taipei, Goodrich, Hellboy: The Crooked Man, Memory, Ferrari, Hypnotic, and Bushwick.
The trade does note that the deal could still fall apart, but things are progressing in the right direction for now. If/when the deal is finalized, expect to see Coyote vs. Acme hit theaters sometime in 2026.
The studio previously tried to sell the film early last year for approximately $70 million, which is believed to...

“Sex Lives of College Girls” has been canceled at Max, Variety has confirmed.
The series aired for three seasons at the Warner Bros. Discovery streaming service. Season 3 of the show debuted in November, with the season finale airing on Jan. 25. The show itself originally premiered on Max in 2021.
Mindy Kaling co-created the series with Justin Noble under her overall deal with studio Warner Bros. Television. Per the official logline, it “follows a group of college students at New England’s prestigious Essex College.”
Reps for Wbtv declined to comment, but according to an individual with knowledge of the situation, the studio is currently shopping the show to other outlets.
The cast for Season 3 included Pauline Chalamet, Amrit Kaur, Alyah Chanelle Scott, Christopher Meyer, Ilia Isorelýs Paulino, Renika Williams, Gracie Lawrence, and Mia Rodgers. Reneé Rapp was a series regular for the first two seasons, but only recurred in Season 3 and...

Exclusive: Essex College is closing its doors at Max as the streamer has canceled The Sex Lives Of College Girls after three seasons. But all is not lost for the ensemble comedy co-created and executive produced by Mindy Kaling and Justin Noble. I hear producing studio Warner Bros. Television has been looking for ways to keep the show going, with Netflix, where Kaling has a longstanding relationship, believed to be a long-shot new home prospect given the complexities of a potential move. A rep for Wbtv declined comment.
It’s been almost two months since Season 3 of The Sex Lives Of College Girls ended its run on Max. Superman is one of the year's most highly anticipated movies, so it's not exactly surprising to see so much buzz - both positive and negative - surrounding James Gunn's long-awaited reboot.
Test screenings have dominated the conversation in recent weeks and, in the latest edition of his newsletter, Jeff Sneider shared a few more details.
Chief among them is that he's heard Superman's current runtime is roughly 140 minutes. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was Gunn's longest movie at 150 minutes, while his Dceu debut, The Suicide Squad, was 132 minutes.
"I spoke to someone this weekend who has seen 'Superman,' and they really liked it," the insider explained. "They said David Corenswet delivers as the Man of Steel and that the 'jokey moments' I mentioned on my podcast, 'The Hot Mic,' were initially viewed out of context, but worked much better within the flow of the edit.

John Cena didn’t have a great year at the movies in 2024. His films like Ricky Stanicky and Jackpot! were nothing more than time-killers. However, he had a couple of interesting cameo appearances, notably in the third season of The Bear and the 36th season of The Simpsons. Hopefully, he is about to change that with his upcoming films.
We’re going to see Cena more in WWE instead of the movies this year, as he has announced his retirement from professional wrestling after 2025. However, fans will eventually get to see him in some action-packed and comedy films.

His movie slate ranges from the action-comedy film Heads of State to the long-gestating The Janson Directive. He will also reprise his DC anti-hero role in the second season of James Gunn’s Peacemaker. Cena is set to appear in the following movies next.

Writer, director, and producer James Gunn has quite a bit resting on his shoulders as the co-head of DC Studios (with Peter Safran), but nothing feels as important as the success of his upcoming "Superman" film. "Superman" is going to be crucial not only for DC Studios but for parent company Warner Bros. as well, and its success will determine the future of the new DC Universe, which will expand into films and TV shows about other DC comics heroes and villains. The first trailer for "Superman" showed other Justice League characters like Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced) and Green Lantern (Nathan Fillion) as well as Supes, which made some fans worry that Gunn might lean into his tendency toward ensemble pieces.
After all, he's best known for his work on the "Guardians of the Galaxy" films as well as DC's "The Suicide Squad" at the cineplex along with shows like the...

Due to its huge popularity, professional wrestling has given birth to multiple crossover entertainment figures. Still, it wouldn’t be wrong to say that Dwayne Johnson and John Cena are the most successful names in this trend.
These two WWE legends have proven how well their natural charm reaches outside professional wrestling boundaries. Initially rose to fame as “The Most Electrifying Man in Sports Entertainment,” Johnson’s path led him toward earning big checks in movie roles. Likewise, Cena began as “Dr. of Thuganomics” and then ascended to lead major blockbuster franchises.

The duo has also entered into multiple businesses combined with philanthropic work following their wrestling and film career success. Their transition from the WWE ring to the movie business has caused a significant boost in their net worth, unlike many of their peers.

At the end of 2022, The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker director James Gunn was named co-ceo of DC Studios alongside veteran producer Peter Safran.
Gunn is believed to be focusing primarily on the creative side of the Dcu and, provided nothing goes disastrously wrong, is expected to remain in his first executive role for anywhere up to a decade. The filmmaker has already worked on Creature Commandos and Peacemaker season 2 and is currently in post-production on Superman.
According to a new report from Puck, Gunn is one of many industry figures who have hybrid deals covering their creative and executive duties. In Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige's case, for example, he's likely paid separately for his President and executive producer positions.
Gunn, meanwhile, looks set to score as many as three paydays for his work on Superman.

A new report explains how DC Studios' James Gunn will be paid for his duties in Superman. The Dcu's first chapter is being overseen by DC Studios head James Gunn, who's writing Creature Commandos and Peacemaker season 2, apart from writing and directing the Dcu's first movie, Superman. James Gunn is attached to the Dcu for the following eight to ten years, as Gunn and Peter Safran's foundations for the franchise are based on a ten-year plan.
As reported by Puck, industry figures like DC Studios' James Gunn and Marvel Studios' Kevin Feige have hybrid deals that cover their creative and executive duties. James Gunn, in particular, should be remunerated separately for his writing, directing, and producing roles in Superman, plus his fees as co-ceo of DC Studios. The latter are probably mandatory for each of Gunn's Dcu projects. Neither Gunn nor Warner Bros. have confirmed these details.

WWE Hall-of-Famer John Cena will always be known for his work inside the ring, but over the last few years he’s also made a name for himself in TV shows and movies such as Peacemaker and F9: The Fast Saga. It was reported all the way back in 2018 that Cena was in talks to lead a feature adaptation of Duke Nukem, the popular video game character from the game series of the same name, but news about the production has been eerily silent in the years since, until now. Producer Brad Fuller provided a long-awaited update on the film during a recent conversation with ScreenRant to promote his new movie, The Astronaut (Laurence Fishburne), one that will have Duke Nukem fans ready to pull their hair out:...

Years after its announcement, the live-action Duke Nukem filmadaptation has received an optimistic, if not vague, update.
In 2018, John Cena was confirmed to star in a film adaptation of the raunchy Duke Nukem video game franchise. While the project has been in limbo for quite some time, producer Brad Fuller gave a vague but optimistic update to Screen Rant. During the South by Southwest film festival (SXSW), Fuller mostly spoke about his upcoming film The Astronaut but also gave a long-awaited update on Duke Nukem.
Fuller confirmed that the project hasn't been dropped yet and is still in development. Unfortunately, this was the only new information Fuller could provide, stating, "If I had information for you, I would tell you. I just know it's something we're talking about and trying to figure out."

James Gunn has become a name synonymous with the superhero genre, and while he's done other projects outside of the comic book movies - both before and since his big break with the first Guardians of the Galaxy flick - you can't deny that superheroes are his bread and butter. He now turns his attention to overseeing DC Studios' new DC Universe, along with Peter Safran, which will look to start a brand new chapter in the storied history of DC Comics characters on the big screen.
With the official start of his DC Universe coming out in July of this year with his Superman film (which Gunn himself directed) and the second season of Peacemaker also arriving at some point this year, let's take a look back at all of the DC projects Gunn has worked on thus far, and see if we can find a way of ranking them from worst to best.

In Anthony and Joe Russo's 2018 blockbuster "Avengers: Infinity War," Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) and Gamora (Zoe Saldana) share a romantic moment, knowing they are facing a series of difficult confrontations with the genocidal alien warlord Thanos (Josh Brolin). Their friend Drax (Dave Bautista) is standing silently in the corner, very slowly snacking on a bag of zargnuts. Startled, Star-Lord asks Drax how long he had been there. The film features some of the most stunning cinematography, fantastic music and sound design and patiently brilliant storytelling in recent cinema history, continuing to chronicle the evolution of robotic artificial intelligence and the implications that these life forms would have on a futuristic world.
One thing that stands above all in Blade Runner 2049 is the performances, pairing legendary actors like Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford and Robin Wright with relative newcomers like Ana de Armas, Mackenzie Davis and Sylvia Hoeks to create one of the most stacked casts in recent films. But arguably the stand-out performance in the film comes from wrestler turned actor Dave Bautista,...

James Gunn and Peter Saffron's new DC Cinematic Universe is bringing in an entirely new cast, but it’s also bringing back a lot of familiar faces. John Cena shocked fans this month when he turned heel and fought Cody Rhodes after winning the Elimination Chamber match on March 1. The popular babyface returned to the WWE at last WrestleMania and promptly announced his retirement by the end of 2025. He is currently on his farewell tour and this year’s WrestleMania is set to be his final one.
Cena has been a babyface for most of his career but his heel turn is one for the books. He humiliated Cody Rhodes at the nth minute upon The Rock’s insistence, making it one of the most interesting storylines set up for the upcoming WrestleMania. A fan theory states that Cena’s farewell journey might also include Cm Punk and Randy Orton.

Frank Grillo had a busy 2024. The actor spent 10 months shooting various projects in Atlanta, including Taylor Sheridan's Tulsa King, the new Supermanmovie, and season two of the DC show Peacemaker. The busy production schedules often intersected with each other, keeping Grillo from focusing on one role at a time. While shooting Tulsa King, Grillo couldn't change his appearance, which made it difficult when he went to play his character in the DC Universe, who had already appeared with a specific style in Creature Commandos.

Similar to comic books, pro wrestling features heroes and villains. They're referred to as babyfaces and heels by fans and, for upwards of two decades, WWE viewers have wondered what it would look like if John Cena were to "turn heel."
The chances of it ever happening seemed slim, especially as the Peacemaker star has granted more Make-a-Wish requests than anyone in history. In 2025, Cena is embarking on a retirement tour and will hang up his wrestling boots and jorts for good at the end of this year.
Last night, it finally happened. Cena broke bad.
During the Elimination Chamber Ple, it came down to Cm Punk and Cena after the former rivals teamed up to take out Seth Rollins. However, a well-timed Curb Stomp from the Visionary opened the door to Cena locking the Best in the World in the Stf; Punk passed out and Cena booked his...

As is so often the case, we've now heard good and bad things from Superman's early internal test screenings. It's always best to take chatter like that with a pinch of salt, though we perhaps shouldn't be surprised that the reboot is drawing mixed reviews.
While filmmaker James Gunn has a great track record, the Man of Steel isn't a character it's easy to make relevant in today's world. The hero is viewed as overpowered and old-fashioned by some, meaning even the best Superman movie is unlikely to strike a chord with them.
Today, scooper @MyTimeToShineH brings word that someone they've spoken to has seen Superman and shared the following:

Supermanwill kick off a new franchise in Warner Bros.' DC Studios, which will include movies and TV shows in Dcu's Chapter One: Gods and Monsters. The upcoming franchise has unveiled some of the titles in the first part, but it's unclear how it will all blend together.
James Gunn, DC Studio's co-ceo alongside Peter Safran, wrote and directed the upcoming Superman, which will not mark the character's origin story, but will start the story right in the center of the action. This time, the character is played by David Corenswet, who will make his debut as the titular superhero this summer. In a new interview with Esquire España, Corenswet played coy when asked about Superman's future.

The first look at Lanterns has just been unveiled. An HBO Original Series, the Dcu-set show will feature Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre, respectively, playing the live-action versions of the Hal Jordan and John Stewart incarnations of Green Lantern.
In the first look photo, Hal and John are shown walking side by side in the middle of a road. They appear to have a purpose, but what exactly is happening in the scene remains to be seen. Notably, neither character is wearing the bright green colors that define Green Lantern, other than a familiar ring visible on one of Hal's fingers. Dwayne Johnson and John Cena’s rivalry, which kicked off a full year before WrestleMania 28, was one of the best WWE storylines of all time. Johnson returned to the ring in 2011 after taking a break from WWE for his Hollywood career. He went up against WWE’s poster boy John Cena and hurtful words were exchanged between the two.

While Johnson is known for his slander talk, it was Cena who surprised everyone with harsh remarks and comebacks. Cena called out Johnson for abandoning the company and later called him out for writing promo notes on his wrist. The Rock completely lost his cool and his reaction was less than cordial, even when he did not have the mic on him.

The Dcu is set to officially kick off later this year with Superman, the tentpole event film written and directed by James Gunn, but it won't be the first project for the universe. The Dcu began near the end of 2024 with Creature Commandos, the animated series featuring characters like Rick Flag Sr. (Frank Grillo), who will go on to appear in live-action projects such as Superman and even Peacemaker Season 2. Creature Commandos was such a profound success that it was renewed for Season 2 before the conclusion of Season 1, and during a recent sit-down with Collider's own Carly Lane to discuss Harley Quinn Season 5, Creature Commandos producer and showrunner Dean Lorey provided an update on Season 2, revealing a potential timeline for when the series could return to Max:...

Peacemaker Season 2 Official Image Reveals The Return Of A Fan-Favourite The Suicide Squad Character
Peacemaker season 2 is set to premiere on HBO and Max this August and creator James Gunn has just dropped a first official look at Steve Agee as the returning John Economos.
Introduced in 2021's The Suicide Squad, the character has become a firm fan favourite and, after taking on a key supporting role in Peacemaker's first season, made his Dcu debut in Creature Commandos last year. As Amanda Waller's right-hand man, it's unclear what he'll bring to the table when this show returns, especially as Rick Flag Sr. is expected to be calling the shots in A.R.G.U.S.
This is only the second official image from Peacemaker season 2 after Gunn previously teased a mysterious new villain (we've included that at the bottom of this post). DC Stduios has yet to share anything showing Christopher Smith in action, though promo art revealed the anti-hero's new helmet design last year.

We're less than six months away from the release of Superman, the first tentpole film launching the new DC Universe under James Gunn, but the studio head is already looking forward by dropping a new look at another 2025 project. Gunn took to his personal X account to unveil a new photo of John Economos (Steve Agee) in Peacemaker Season 2, which is coming to Max this August. Agee previously portrayed the character alongside John Cena in the first season of Peacemaker, and he also featured in Creature Commandos, playing the animated version of Agee alongside Amanda Waller (Viola Davis). Agee is among the names confirmed to return in Peacemaker Season 2 and reprise his role, but there is also a major new addition to the cast.

DC Studios Rejig Release Slate As James Gunn Gives Updates On Batman, Teen Titans, Clayface And More
Time flies when you're having fun — and when you're trying to build a cinematic universe, too. Somehow, it's already been two years since DC Studios head honchos James Gunn and Peter Safran revealed the roadmap for their newly christened Dcu, announcing a wildly ambitious "Gods And Monsters" first phase comprising 10 projects. Now, as the first major movie from that slate, Gunn's own Superman, gets ready to take flight this July, Gunn and Safran have taken some time to give fans an update on their ever-evolving future plans — including Batman: The Brave And The Bold, a proposed live-action Teen Titans movie, Clayface, and much more besides.

With a six-year outlook for DC between series and films, what would be the warning signs that the brand becomes more of a machine than a place for organic stories?
DC co-bosses James Gunn and Peter Safran were asked such at Friday’s press day for the studio in which they provided an update on the projects they announced two years ago.
“I’d quit,” exclaimed Gunn. “I’m being serious! I’m not going to do this unless I think we’re doing good stuff that’s cool, that works.”
Cooling down from the blunt statement, the Superman filmmaker specified, “I’m not saying I’m going to quit, I’m not damning DC.” As a filmmaker leading a motion picture label, Gunn is an anomaly among studio bosses in town.
“We’re very deliberate in our output,” Safran said. “We’re not looking to make five movies a year and five series.

Without getting too much into the politics of it all, Superman is arriving at a very fractious time in America.
Talking to press last week, DC Studios co-ceo James Gunn was asked what about his version of the Man of Steel is right for the current cultural moment six months into the second Trump administration.
"In some ways, I would say it’s the right Superman because I don’t think he’s a part of the cultural moment," Gunn responded. "He’s a character that stands for something that is solid, for basic human morals, basic human integrity, the basic belief in protecting others the weak and being good to people and being honest. He stands for what I think of as the rules that don’t change."

DC fans visiting San Diego Comic-Con might want to keep their expectations in check as there might not be any big Dcu news or events, according to Peter Safran.
Comic-Con 2024 was seen as a big return to form for various studios after the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes impacted the previous year. While Marvel Studios notably had a significant presence at Comic-Con 2024, breaking the internet with the announcement that Robert Doweny Jr. would be playing Doctor Doom, DC Studios sat out the big event. Aside from revealing the DC Studios logo and showing the first teaser for Creature Commandos, there was no significant Hall H presence for Superman or other Dcu titles.
That trend will seemingly continue in 2025. During a press conference on the state of the Dcu slate, Variety reports that DC Studios co-president Peter Safran said that the studio will not have a "significant presence" at San Diego Comic-Con...

DC Studios has confirmed that a Sgt. Rock movie is in the works for the DC Universe. The confirmation came after studio heads James Gunn and Peter Safran were asked about Daniel Craig's departure from the World War II movie.
Per Variety, Gunn and Safran recently held a press event for DC Studios' upcoming film and television slate. When the topic of Craig exiting Sgt. Rock came up; Safran clarified that the James Bond actor "was never attached" to the movie, so he couldn't have dropped out. The DC head went on to explain that the actor had merely been floated as a possible candidate for the role due to having just appeared in Sgt. Rock director Luca Guadagnino's previous film, Queer. "But, you know, we never met with Daniel. He was just an idea," Safran said, with Gunn adding, "Well, we never really even announced Sgt. Rock.
