Archana 31 Not Out

Watched it and felt 'what is this!!!' at the end. Yes, it seems the filmmaker thought viewers will stand and clap at the climax 'punch'. But the exact opposite vibe is what viewers getting. The message is clear and notable, however the movie is a forgettable one.

This movie may not be made to the taste of every person, but to disregard the intention and talent involved is ignorant.

Personally, I found the movie engaging and thought provoking. The talent involved deserves praise. Aishwarya Lakshmi, who delivers more than she is expected, is absolutely delightful to watch. Also, a special mention to Indrans who steals every frame he is in.

It is a simple story that empowers women to take centre stage and is commendable. It may not stand high on the cinematic experience, but the heart is in the right place.

Kudos to the cast and team!

Not sure why it did not work for so many reviewers... I liked this film - acting was good. The film was dragging a little bit, but I liked the storyline. Loved this film.

Especially the climax was good. I was bit surprised and feeling a bit let down initially, but thinking back, I liked this climax.

Aishwarya acting was excellent. But they did not really need these many characters (that already married cousin, the bunch of old guys, the politics among the neighbors etc.) Not sure what was the relationship between the heroine and cricket. Also - could not understand the meaning of that championship cup falling down from the almirah...

It looked exactly like my life story - Right now! That may be the reason why I was able to connect to every little detail - right from expressions to bg. Each and every character was super natural and hats off to the film maker. It is very tough for this society to accept such kind of harsh ending - but it was the right and best one ever!

I approached the movie without any predictions and expectations. So I really enjoyed watching it. And it must be said that it is not a film which is to be rated as a mere feel good one... But its has some essence. As a girl I'm proud about Archana and her words that it's not a broker or an astrologist who decide my life. The movie has a different pace. Aiswarya lekshmi has one of her best performances in it. She has proven that she is really skilled in handling an urban and rural character with the same enthusiasm. And the major factor which impressed me is its direction. Akhil anilkumar has nailed it. He could well capture the innocence, normality and togetherness of a village life. The space given for each and every character is appreciable. And the first combination shot of Aiswarya lekshmi and Indrans sir from Archana's home was such a good one which made my eyes well up. The scene had that much intensity only because of the direction quality. Also Characters like Shibu, Archana's father, kunjan always will stay in the heart giving a small pain. However there was some kind of missing here and there. A small void was felt in the whole scripting. But I enjoyed it really well. The movie has tried its best to deviate from the usual path of portraying female centric stories. Two types of opinion was heard before watch. So my request is not to bother those and just watch it and make your own view. It's a movie which will remain close to heart atleast for some. Nice experience. Akhil Anilkumar will evolve as one of the busiest directors in the near future for sure!!!
