Quirky and engaging

Lucky Numbers is a curious short featuring oddball characters, a quirky sense of humour and above all, interesting imagery. Its central character is, well, weird, but endearing, and the unusual story is served well by the director, Garrick Hamm. There is a good use of unusual locations, and the D.o.P. really brings a vibrancy through the colours and lighting.

Whilst the story is a little obscure in places, it holds the viewer's attention, carrying enough charm and character to remain engaging. I look forward to seeing more from Mr. Hamm and co.

Well done you two

A funny and uplifting short story and a great debut got Garrick Hamm and Pete Seaward. The world they depict in this short film manages to be both authentically British as well as universally bizarre and surreal.

The characters are intrinsically funny and the story grabs you immediately from the first few frames. While he action progresses at its own pace the audience are drawn into this eccentric world and the story becomes even more subtle and intriguing.

The filmmakers have done a great job at creating visuals that support the story and remain strong and compelling. Overall a very good start. So what's next?

A smart and quirky tale

A really smart take on the X-Factor inspired belief that fame and fortune are deserved and lives will be changed by luck rather than hard graft. Derrick represents this way of living a life, although humorous, his tale is told with a degree of empathy.

Loved the opening credits completely sets up the thoughtful filming and at times surreal feel of the film very intriguing and funny. Location becomes another character as the film quickly establishes his surroundings are a best quirky, at worst a kind of looming oppressive backdrop to his tiny life and story.

Above all though quite a heartwarming tale of a small life lived, the need to find meaning in all life's events and total belief in something out of your control.

Really nice.

Lucky Numbers was shot over 15 weekends with a crew of 3, and took a year and a half to complete. All the sets were hand-built by Pete Seaward at his studio.
