Why did the cast of After We Fell change, recasting Landon and other major characters in the After series? Many characters were surprisingly (and perhaps confusingly) recast for After We Fell, and there were a few factors that drove the cast shuffle for the third movie. Though the turbulent teen romance did retain its two lead lovers, complications caused many actors to be unable to participate in not only After We Fell but also its sequel, After Ever Happy. Unfortunately, the After We Fell recast was outside any one person's control and will have a big impact on the rest of the film series.
Indeed, the After We Fell cast actually faces quite a common issue in serial movie storytelling. With the recast of key characters like Carol, Christian, and Landon after the second movie in the After series, things can get confusing for some audiences. Here's why they changed...

Do you want to watch the "After" movies but you're not quite sure where to logistically begin? I may be able to lend a hand with that.
For the uninitiated, the "After" film series is based on author Anna Todd's book series of the same name — and the backstory here is actually pretty wild. Todd, who once wrote under the username Imaginator1D on the fanfiction site Wattpad, penned "After" as a story about a regular girl who ends up in a torrid, steamy romance with Harry Styles Fanfiction making the leap into legitimate literary territory isn't anything new; "Fifty Shades of Grey" began its life as a work of "Twilight" fanfiction, a fact that I cannot ever possibly unlearn. Knowing that the "After" series is about a very real person, though, might feel a little strange when you sit down to read or watch the stories.

After Everything is the fifth installment in the After franchise, but unlike the previous films, it is not based on any of Anna Todd's novels. Director Castille Landon wrote an original screenplay for After Everything, allowing the franchise to explore new territory beyond the source material. While After Everything is presumed to be the last movie of the franchise, there are plans for spinoffs, including a prequel and a sequel focused on Hardin and Tessa's future children.
After Everything is the fifth installment in the After franchise, but it breaks away from the rest of the franchise as there is no After Everything book it is based on. The franchise originally launched with the film After, which stars Hero Fiennes Tiffin as Hardin Scott and Josephine Langford as Tessa Young, and the story follows the young couple's tumultuous love story. After Everything answers the big question of whether Hardin and Tessa end up together, with a complicated and romantic ending. Hardin shows personal growth by taking responsibility for his actions and apologizing to Tessa, but red flags of manipulation still remain. Hardin learns to reflect on his actions and learn from his mistakes after flying to Lisbon to see his ex-fling, Natalie.
The ending of After Everything, the final movie in the After series, answers massive questions from the franchise, like whether Hardin and Tessa end up together. This movie starts two years after Hardin and Tessa’s breakup in After Ever Happy. Hardin is drinking again and putting off writing his second novel. He spends a good amount of time partying and hooking up with women to numb his pain.

The After series movies have been both successful and controversial, with strong differences in opinions between audiences and critics. The fifth movie, After Everything, breaks the formula by focusing on Hardin's point of view and delving into his backstory, providing a better understanding of his character. The first movie, After, sets up an intense relationship between Tessa and Hardin, but lacks strong drama and character development, with the chemistry between the leads being the standout element.

Josephine Langford is most well known for playing college student Tessa Young in the "After" movies. After Everything is confirmed as the final movie in the After series, concluding Hardin and Tessa's romantic journey. The lack of source material is likely the reason why After Everything is the last movie in the series. Although After 6 and a prequel were in pre-production, it is unlikely that After 6 will happen, but a spin-off and prequel are reportedly in the works.
Although the fifth movie in the After series, After Everything, brings closure to Hardin and Tessa's romantic storyline, it leaves viewers with one nagging question: will there be an After 6, or was After Everything the end of the movie series? Following its premiere in 2019, the first movie in the After series did not receive positive reviews from critics. However, despite its underwhelming critical ratings, the film performed well enough at the box office to spawn sequels.

Exclusive: Republic Pictures has snapped up rights to The Image of You, a recently wrapped thriller starring Sasha Pieterse (Pretty Little Liars) in dual roles. Pic is set for release via Paramount Global Content Distribution at a date that hasn’t been disclosed.
Parker Young (United States of Al), Nestor Carbonell (The Morning Show), Michele Nordin (Justified) and Academy Award winner Mira Sorvino (Shining Vale) also star in the film from Mpca — an adaptation of the same-name novel from UK-based bestseller Adele Parks MBE, which Jeff Fisher (Killer Movie) directs from a script by Chris Sivertson (Monstrous).

2023's After Everything is the fifth film in the romantic After franchise, and it's the most anticipated installment yet. Based on the series of novels by author Anna Todd, the After film franchise launched in 2019 with the release of the eponymous film which began the turbulent relationship between Tessa and Hardin. After Everything, like its predecessors, promises plenty of interpersonal drama and steamy romance while offering a bit of closure as well. The film is billed as the final chapter in Tessa and Hardin's epic love story, though that seems highly unlikely considering its tremendous success.
The series has been a massive box office draw from the outset, with 2019's After grossing an impressive $70 million against a minuscule budget (via Box Office Mojo). While each sequel saw a decline in box office dollars, the appeal of the ongoing romantic story has been strong enough to carry the series through five movies.

After Ever Happy, the fourth film based on the After series, has finally given the troubled young couple and their audience some much-needed answers, and it has been quite the journey. In this movie, Hardin Scott (Hero Fiennes Tiffin) and Tessa Young (Josephine Langford) continue to fight against the past, themselves, and each other to find their path together.
The next movie in the series is in preproduction, with both leading actors set to reprise their roles. There is so much packed into the first four films that it can be hard to keep track of what has happened to Tessa and Hardin leading up to the next installment. Before the fifth movie comes out, and while the fourth is still fresh in the minds of fans, it's time to remember where "Hessa" started, and how they got to the point they are at in the beginning of After Ever Happy.

The cast of After We Fell, the third and middle installment in the After series, includes original cast members alongside a few replacements. The film hit theaters in 2021, following After in 2019 and After We Collided. The “After” series has had a long journey. Starting as a One Direction Harry Styles fan fiction published on Wattpad by Anna Todd, the story was later reformatted to become an original novel series detailing the tumultuous relationship between college student Tessa Young and tortured bad boy Hardin Scott. Five years after the novel was published, the first book was turned into the film “After” starring Josephine Langford and Hero Fiennes Tiffin as Tessa and Hardin.
Since 2019 there have been four installments in the “After” movie series with one coming out consistently every year.

The Gen V cast introduces some promising new characters to The Boys universe and brings back some iconic characters from the flagship series. Loosely inspired by the story arc “We Gotta Go Now” from Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson’s The Boys comics, Gen V revolves around a group of young Supes who are put through various battle royales to test their superpowers at Vought International’s Godolkin University School of Crimefighting. Originally titled The Boys Presents: Varsity, Gen V is essentially a take on The Hunger Games narrative set in a world full of superheroes.

There have been a lot of YA romances that have captured audiences’ hearts over the last decade. However, none have arguably been as popular or as everlasting as the After saga of films. Based on the book series by Anna Todd, After has had three sequels and was supposed to have ended this year's After Ever Happy. However, before that film’s release the franchise star Hero Fiennes Tiffin announced that there was going to be a fifth film to close out the series, After Everything. The other surprising news was it was already filmed. Now ahead of After Everything’s release in 2023, the new final film has received its first teaser trailer.

“Ticket to Paradise” nearly swept the VOD charts this week, falling short only at Google Play. The Julia Roberts-George Clooney rom-com success, heading to a domestic theatrical gross of perhaps 75 million, hewed to the studio’s standard plan of home release after three weekends. It’s still thriving in theaters, taking #3 for the weekend, providing more evidence that theatrical play elevates films for home play. The increased marketing might even help theatrical.
Theatrical success also was key for Netflix’s new #1. “Where the Crawdads Sing.” Sony’s very successful adaptation of Delia Reese’s best seller opened mid-July with a domestic 90 million total. Theaters can’t live by comic book and other franchises alone; they need a resurgence of standalone successes in other genres. “Ticket” and “Crawdads” are also the kinds of projects that top streamers want to corral, with limited or no theatrical footprint.
