The One You're With

Senseless.....pretty dumb.....better off washing the dishes.

I really did try to love this movie because I movie a good rom/com. But this was not enough com and even less rom. That being said I loved the lead guy in this movie. But the woman was just not likable, I am sure they wanted this to be the idea in the beginning. But you would think by the end they would at least make her ok to be in the same room with. That being said this Indy film really did try to be something special and for that it deserves more then just a one or a two. It was just not THAT funny, but if you are bored and have nothing else to watch then ok. Can't help but feel this was a movie with a message about getting vaccinated. But maybe that was JUST me. It is worth a watch though, it has it's charms. I am sure the director will nail it next go around. I'll be waiting...

Without spoiling anything these are my thoughts.

What I think they did well: Funny Awkward Changed up rom com formula Show how people change personality the longer they're with them.

Romance

What i think they did bad: Some of the editing cuts were a little poorly made and made the movie overall feel more unprofessional then it needed to be. Like this one scene where I think he leaves her food and she looks over and the way he jumped outta sight just seemed off.

Their were some parts I felt like the writing was a little weird and some parts I felt bored because it felt a little slow.

Overall: Honestly this movie was very refreshing and did something new and for an indie movie I was very impressed. I didn't think I'd enjoy this but I really did.

Written, directed and starring... oh and it sounds like him singing every terrible song in this too. If you're thinking about watching this you can definitely find something better. Give it a miss.

A couple of things that stand out as really not funny, the president on the tv who is a black man that's seemingly incompetent and stupid in regards to the pandemic.

Over 600k Americans are have died from covid as of now, the President who was actually in power when this movie is set was a non black, psychopathic weirdo so the choice here was hardly inclusive and made zero sense.

It was just bad taste. Are these scenes supposed to be funny? With or without hindsight?

I can't see how this is being released on any streaming platform today.

I couldn't rate this lower than 1 star but it doesn't even deserve a star.

If this film maker gets his friends and family to write some fake reviews or boost his rating with fake stars after I publish this you're just going to have to trust me, this film is a pile of rubbish.

One of the most annoying films ever made.

I saw this on Youtube. A hidden gem. Definitely unique in style. I absolutely loved the ending but it hits close to home. And I thought it was realistic about relationships in a way that rom coms are almost never, although I'm not sure rom-com is the right description. The leads were great. And the bit parts were also great. Very romantic balanced by an almost over the top humor. And he uses the music to advance the story and set the mood so well. I don't think of this as a good independent movie; it's just a good movie and one keep watching over and over. Reminds me of another gem I found on Youtube - The First Love. A labor of love that gets dismissed as a teen romance but is so much more. This could be dismissed as a rom com but it's trying to do something more. I'm even nicer to my wife as a result.
