I'm watching all the Barbie movies in order and I have to say I was excited for this one because of its title (I LOVED gem themed stories and princesses when I was little). It was better than I expected it to be (most of the Barbie movies fall more at like a 5 or 6 out of 10 for me so far).
Especially I liked the part with the riddle and the easter egg of the pegasus (pegasi?) from one of the earlier movies. The guys helping them were fun, the singing was pretty good, and it was a fun idea to have them living in a cabin selling flowers from their garden.
Was a bit of an eyesore the boys' guitars at the end as they looked like someone in the animation dept decided to turn the blue saturation ALL the way up and call it a day.
Also I laughed when they got in the carriage. I was like good luck getting that huge thing back over the 2 ft wide rainbow bridge lol.
Oh and honorable mention to the girl's weird unbrushed ringlet curls at the end. And the dancing dogs gave me flashbacks to major mint and captain candy in the Nutcracker XD
Fun story, music, characters. Not so fun saturated color and fashion choices. Overall recommend to barbie fans.

A movie from my childhood. It's pretty good, and I do recommend watching it. Songs are catchy; the characters are great. It has a good storyline with a friendship lesson behind it. Even now as an adult I appreciate this movie and the magical experience it gave me.
Cons: I find the puppies dancing like humans to be really weird. Even when I was kid I cringed at those parts. If it weren't for that I'd give this movie a solid 10/10. The puppies are fine otherwise.

For being a Barbie movie, I enjoyed watching this with my girls far more than I expected. I liked the characters quite a bit, especially the twins. The storyline was fun and as usual, the good lesson. The graphics weren't bad, the music though a tad bit shrill at times with the singing, isn't bad either though beware, they're catchy enough tunes that they get stuck in your head... like a commercial jingle. I find myself humming "Connected" and then laughing at the fact that I'm humming my daughter's movie song. My three year old is entranced with the movie, she loves the puppies. So far, out of the barbie movies I have been bullied with big blue eyes and sweet smiles into watching, this one is my favorite.
Overall this is a good movie with a good message about friendships and how a big fight can repair your friendship when the world is against you and love the songs
I loved this movie as a kid - watched it over and over and over... and over. I must admit when I look back now, I see all its many flaws, but it's not meant for older people is it?

- TriviaWhen Liana and Alexa reach the Valley of Flowers Liana exclaims "I smell roses". The flowers shown are however clearly not roses, which is an odd mistake for a florist such as the ladies are to make.
