Given the fact that I had never heard about this movie was hardly an issue, as it was a horror movie that I hadn't already seen. And since I am a huge horror fan, of course I opted to check out what writer and director Jason Hawkins had to offer.
Talk about a slow paced and uneventful narrative from writer Jason Hawkins. The pacing of the movie was so slow that it was bordering on being sleep inducing. And the fact that nothing happened just made it all the more of a struggle to sit through and even more so actually staying awake to. This was boring on so many levels.
The only familiar face on the cast list, for me at least, was actor Courtney Gains. The acting performances were bland.
One-third of the movie was shot by a handheld home video camera, one-third was security camera footage and the last third was actually filmed in a proper manner. The first two styles of footage did not look professional at all, and I have to say that these homemade movies filmed on someone's dad's old video camera just doesn't cut it for me.
If you enjoy horror movies, do yourself a favor and don't waste 86 minutes on watching "The Haunting of Michael Barrow".
My rating of writer and director Jason Hawkins's 2025 movie "The Haunting of Michael Barrow" lands on a very generous one out of ten stars.
