Netflix viewers are gripped by an adrenaline-fueled action thriller that’s been setting screens on fire across the globe. A Mexican-made blockbuster named ‘Counterattack,’ which has been described as pulse-pounding, edge-of-your-seat spectacle, has quietly surged in popularity, locking in a spot among Netflix’s top titles worldwide.

Counterattack: A Battle Against Ruthless Cartel Forces

Originally titled Counterstrike, the film thrusts audiences into the high-stakes world of Captain Armando Guerrero, an elite Special Forces operative who finds himself on the run after thwarting a sinister kidnapping.

His target? None other than the ruthless Josefo “The Stinger” Urías, the iron-fisted enforcer of the notorious Tamaulipas cartel. With that single act of heroism, Guerrero ignites a firestorm, earning the wrath of a deadly adversary who stops at nothing to eliminate him and his elite squad.

When a Mexican Army officer saves two hostages, he and his team of special agents find a graveside full of cartel victims — making their squad the target of a drug cartel leader who’ll stop at nothing to silence them. The film Counterattack, by Chava Cartas (Rosario Tijeras), stars Luis Alberti, Noé Hernández, and Luis Curiel.

When two women stumble upon a mass grave in the Mexico countryside, they’re kidnapped by members of El Enjambre cartel. Fortunately, the women are quickly rescued by Special Forces Captain Guerrero (Alberti) and his men, dubbed the Murciélagos. But now that Guerrero is privy to the Narco burial site, he and his team are Enemy No. 1 for El Enjambre’s feared leader, El Aguijón (Hernández).

The film takes place in Mexico somewhere near the US border.

Netflix's Counterattack is headlined by a star-studded Spanish cast led by the likes of Luis Alberti, Leonardo Alonso, and Noe Hernandez. 

The Spanish action thriller follows the story of Captain Guerrero and his group of Special Forces operatives who unearth a dangerous conspiracy after making an enemy out of a ruthless drug trafficker in Mexico. 

Directed by Chava Chartas, Counterattack (alternatively titled as Contraataque) premiered on Netflix on February 28.

Netflix’s Counterattack is a Mexican action-drama film centered around five friends, all special forces, who were ambushed by hitmen hired by an infamous drug trafficker. Captain Guerrero had just left a bar with his friends when he came across a gang of notorious men harassing two women right in front of the police station. His friend requested him not to react because the leader of the gang was Roman, the brother of El Aguijon (Josefo Urias). But Guerrero refused to remain silent, and he intervened. He held Roman at gunpoint and asked his men to drop their weapons. Policemen from the station tried to side with Roman, but when they realized that Guerrero belonged to the Mexican Armed Forces, they instructed Roman’s men to lower their weapons.
