'The Pink Panther' "Pink Sphinx" (1968)

Opening thoughts: 1968's Pink Panther cartoons were mostly solid standard, though expectedly some were stronger than others. 'Pink Sphinx' is one of the best of the 1968 batch and one of the funniest and most delightfully colourful early cartoons in the series and perhaps overall. Maybe not quite one of my favourite Pink Panther cartoons, though it very nearly was, but there is so much that is so good overall about the series that is present here and very little to criticise.

Bad things: Only the rather abrupt, though still admittedly funny, ending disappointed a little.

Good things: 'Pink Sphinx' is great otherwise on the other hand. It is vibrantly and crisply animated, as well as being effective in its simplicity. You can't go wrong either with the jazzy orchestral score and iconic theme tune.

The gags are cleverly timed and hilarious throughout, as well as being one of the better 1968 Pink Panther cartoons 'Pink Sphinx' also has to be one of the funniest. The story is exciting and adventurous.

Not as routine as some other Pink Panther cartoons certainly. Pink is cool and likable with great comic timing and the little camel is both funny and adorable.

Closing thoughts: All in all, a delightful Pink Panther cartoon.
