Two negatives don't make a positive, but that's not the case for "Double Negative"

I must admit, I was pleasantly surprised by this little film. "Double Negative" starts out slow, but really does a good job of pulling you into the story and getting you involved in figuring out what's happened to the main character. In some ways, it's similar to the "Bourne" movies, but not so much that it feels like they were copying those films. It definitely stands on it's own legs. This is one of those movies that just gets better and better as you watch the main character wrestle with his past, and after his life is suddenly turned upside down by a lone red herring, he's forced to confront his demons and become the master of his own destiny. Film buffs will catch on very quickly that there's a lot more going on in this story than what's presented on the surface in the film.

My only complaint was some of the acting. BUT, this was a very low-budget film so you can't expect Academy Award winning performances. The lead though, Frederic Doss, had the best performance... and it helps that he's REALLY sexy! ;) However, the acting was the ONLY thing that made it seem low-budget. The picture quality, sound, music, locations, action, pacing, and special effects were all nicely done! All things considered, the filmmakers did very well with what little they had. And from what I can see on his IMDb page, this was a first time director. That just makes the film all the more impressive.

So that's why I give it an 8 out of 10. It isn't the best indie film I've ever seen, but it's DEFINITELY not a disappointment! It was entertaining and the hard work the filmmakers put into it shows on the screen. And if you're keen enough to see the multiple layers buried under the surface of the overall plot, this film will leave you wanting more. And that's a win in my book!
