    Waste to time and talent

The story trues to be a dark comedy but comes off as an attempt at grabbing eyeballs.

Aimed at trying to make conversations started like the Great Indian Kitchen, it shows off excesses of youth as a defiance against social norms. Instead of delving into the long term implications of such actions, it merely glosses over the actions and thinks it is very brilliant.

    Sadly, not so.

Script does not have the actors do much. All actors react like they have been sedated.

Within 2 days sudden raise of 10 star votes 😂

When I saw 2 days before, it has got mostly of one star ratings. But today I can see a sudden raise of nearly 700 10 star votes 😂. I hope the movie team is still working on it 😂.

    A breath of fresh air

A sensibly handled adult theme that will definitely be a conversation starter. A must watch for all Indian women and highly relatable concept. A breezy 80 minute watch that won't disappoint.

Realistic drama with hollow content and characters

RATED 4/10 Language: Tamil Source: Amazon prime

Very few scenes and dialogs are good, but cant watchable this whole dragged drama. I didnt understand the message/intention of this movie. The making is realistic one but the content is so hollow. I felt the characters are not portrayed well and left as grey to the audiences. This is neither adult movie nor solid drama struggles in between....

    Simple story, grounded, realistic characters

A coming of age story of a teen girl raised in a very conservative and authoritative household. There are no sudden gusts of wind making the hair of the heroine sway. Or any slipping incidents that make the heroin fall into the arms of the hero. The hero is not an ultra-powerful hulk who saves the heroine from the bad guys.

The romance, sex and everything else is very realistic. This film is real life. Loved it for its realism. Though the story could have been better. Akshara Hassan tries to act, her acting is not without ease, not effortless. But her character is endearing and relatable. So are the characters of her friends and the boyfriend.

    • Trivia
This film is one of the firsts in Indian cinema to explore the female gaze. Involving a majority female cast and crew (90%) has aided in capturing the female gaze in all its glory.

This film marks veteran singer Usha Uthup's return to Tamil cinema after 12 long years.

Usha Uthup has no training in classical music and was thrown out of her music class because of her voice. She went on to become one of the pillars of Indian music and has sung in over 16 languages throughout her career. She plays a Carnatic singer in AMNP and sang all the songs for her scene herself.

Interestingly Usha Uthup's former movies in Tamil were with father Kamal Haasan and now she returns to share screen space with his daughter, Akshara Haasan.

Having sung for all of the legends in Indian cinema, pop singer Malgudi Subha debuted as an actor with AMNP and plays the daughter to her real life role model Usha Uthup.

Having produced more than 20 web-series' under the TrendLoud banner, AMNP is TrendLoud's first feature film.

With 6 Official selections at International Film Festivals, AMNP has been recognized worldwide for its one-of-a-kind portrayal of female gaze and has won hearts everywhere.

The "Kanda Naal Mudhalai" fame singer Susha makes her debut as a Music Director with AMNP. Being a trained carnatic musician, she was a professional playback singer for legends like A.R.Rahman and Yuvan Shankar Raja.

Cinematographer Shreya Dev Dube's previous work "Bittu" was nominated at the Academy Awards and went on to bag the Student Oscars.

The movie was shot in 2 aspect ratios to show Pavithra's current frame of mind. One to show how she felt claustrophobic when the society was closing in on her and one to portray her liberation.

To achieve a more realistic and convincing shot, Akshara Haasan got waxed for real on the sets. She left the set in splits as she went one step ahead and improvised on this scene with her loud Marathi swears.

The character names in the movie means much more than meets the eye, they represent a specific character trait. Pavithra means "Pure", Rathi is the Goddess of Desire, Jessica means a gift from God and Charukesi is a raga in carnatic music.

The wardrobe of each character in the film follows a specific color palette that reflects their core personality. Pavithra wears green to portray her innocence, Rathi is blue which represents her free spirit, Jessica wears pink which is the stereotyped representation of all women. Charukesi wears the auspicious yellow color, whereas Sowmya wears the authoritative maroon. The father is a neutral white and the boyfriend is the color of passion - red.

Akshara Haasan trained under the music director Susha to portray her character Pavithra more realistically.

Usha Uthup's looks were modelled after the legendary Musician & Singer M.L. Vasantha Kumari.

Though she hated fish, Akshara Haasan had to gulp down 20 pieces of fish in one scene to get the perfect shot.

Padma Bhushan Dr. Kamal Haasan, the Legend himself, came forward to launch the trailer of Achcham Madam Naanam Payirppu on the occasion of Akshara Haasan's birthday. The teaser was also launched by people's favorite - Vijay Sethupathi.

The Director Raja Ramamurthy is hugely inspired by Veteran Director K. Balachandar and John Hughes and the scenes and characters from AMNP are a homage to his style of movies.

With a well-rehearsed cast and crew, the film was shot in just under 20 days.

AMNP consciously collaborated with budding female talent and gave a platform for numerous women technicians to debut through this movie.
