    Lovely movie

A pleasant movie with wonderful scenery of New Zealand. Good ensemble cast and a good story. I recommend it to watch for good entertainment. Hallmark standards are kept which is good.

A film which succeeds in transporting the viewer elsewhere where beauty is everywhere

I don't understand how such a beautiful movie can just be rated 6; I smiled stupidly throughout the movie; I absolutely loved every part of the movie: the beauty of the landscapes, the acting, the cast, the cinematography, the originality of the story, everything was a real joy. The story highlights craftsmanship, especially knitting, community life, and shows very well the true meaning of success: staying true to who you are. I also really liked all the actors, especially the main actors who have a great chemistry together, not to mention the sheep, especially Barbara. Finally, in a world where only profit counts, where the fast pace of life prevents us from fully experiencing things, it is good to remember that it is important to live slowly in order to truly appreciate each moment of life. It is important to remember your dreams and the true meaning of your life. Such beautiful values, necessary in a world which has lost the true meaning of beauty and love.

    • Trivia
Proof that the Vikings made sails out of wool came with discovery of the Gokstad ship in 1879. The wool was from a special breed of sheep that had two layers, a coarse outer waterproof layer and a soft inner layer for insulation. These were separately spun and woven together, then coated with horse fat or fish oil and ochre to give a waterproof sealant. The Merino breed of sheep used in New Zealand are famous for the softness of their wool.
    • Goofs
In the knitting contest, Sophie uses imperial measurements i.e. inches. In New Zealand, metric measurements would more likely be used.
