About your average SyFy Channel movie.

Well There is a cgi monster which varies in size from shot to shot, it has no motivation for just killing everyone it encounters (not hungry, not scared, not territorial) although the characters are so bland that death is a sweet release for them.

Honestly, I was a huge fan of the original comic (Charleton Comics give you more!) back in the early '60's and the producers using the name is why I watched it. The credits claim this was based on the comic - it wasn't, it was just a misuse of the name.

    Not-so-mysterious island

You might recall the B-movie THE GIANT CLAW - it was a decent enough monster movie sabotaged by the producers skimping on special effects and producing (ahem) a real turkey.

This movie is just the reverse. The CGI monster looks reasonably convincing but the rest of the film does not. I watched till the end but I am not sure why.

Plot, dialogue, acting and sets are, well, pretty ordinary.

I don't remember the comic book that is said to have inspired it.

BUCK ROGERS fans may be interested to see Gil Gerard as the general in a couple of scenes back at headquarters, though he is mostly just sitting at his desk.

    This was phenomenally bad...

Granted, with a movie named "Reptisaurus" and having the cover that it did, then I must admit that my hopes and expectations for this 2009 movie weren't particularly high.

But still, I sat down to watch it, as once in a while these creature features turns out to be rather enjoyable. However, "Reptisaurus" was definitely not one of those movies. This was laughable at best.

First of all, the storyline was so simple that it could have been written by a fifth grader. There were next to no proper contents to the storyline presented here by writer Jeremiah Campbell and director Christopher Ray. If you manage to endure through the entire movie, which is a massive ordeal, then you just essentially switch off your brain and sit back and watch the movie.

The acting in the movie was as expected - mediocre at best. There weren't actually any outstanding performances. But I believe that the actors and actresses weren't to blame here, it was the questionable character gallery and the shoddy dialogue that were weighing them down and holding them back. I mean, you wash up on a remote island, and suddenly you don't recognize the whirring sound of helicopter rotor blades, wait, what? Seriously? Yeah, the writing for this movie was exactly that stupid.

This being a creature feature, and one with a reptilian creature at that, then you would need to have a proper CGI department to bring the creature to life on the screen in a noteworthy and believable manner. The people working on "Reptisaurus" didn't have that department, and the CGI was hilariously bad. It was seriously some of the worst CGI animation of a creature in a movie I have seen in a long time. And even the performers weren't even buying into it.

"Reptisaurus" is not worth the time, money or effort, and you might as well give it a wide berth. Some of us suffered through it, so you don't have to.

My rating for this movie is a mere two out of ten stars. And this movie will never be played a second time in my house.

    Pretty bad.

The plot of the movie was ok but it needed a director. The actors seemed like this was there first high school play. The dialog just wasn't realistic. This could have been helped some by a decent director. The characters weren't likable and you kind of wanted to see them all killed by the beast. The CGI was bad of course but I never expect much there on these low budget projects. It's not the worst of them out there but is trying to be a contender.

This is surely to be a cult classic! How can you not love flying lizard monsters, lots of guns and guys and gals in uniform?!
