Britain by Narrowboat

... but just couldn't. Just wasn't interesting. Came here, looked at reviews, discovered Great Canal Journeys that some have mentioned this is trying to emulate. Amazing! This shows should have tried harder to capture it's spirit and it's capturing of the actual experience of narrow boat travel ....... not too mention that Tim & Pru are a hoot! Okay, apparently I need to write more. The history of the canals and narrow boats is covered fascinatingly. The guys on this program are likeable enough, but they don't ever do anything but banter. They never show you the boat, ever go into any of the history or the sights ... just boring. Do yourself a favor and check out Great Canal Journeys!

Interesting subject, some nice scenery, but owners (as it is for most reality shows)are a bit tough to listen to. 4 episodes in and no tour of boat. I understand it might only take five minutes but for anyone who's never seen a longboat it would be nice.

This is a copy. A copy of a sincere relaxing journey by an original somewhat naive creator that gave us canals by narrow boat. This incarnation of the original formula removes any and all serenity via the charm of an overbearing BBC presenter. This includes their lush production values with the excuse that the presenter was on the edge of a 'breakdown'. Thusly not only imitating everything from the original series, but cutting to the chase by using up any real pathos experienced by the person they are imitating by describing tragedy in the shows introduction. The original creator experienced so many life changing things in his journey. This copy is so cheap it can't even wait to have its tragedy play out so it puts the pain in the liner notes of the first episode.

Timothy West and Prunella Scales gave us several wonderful seasons of different parts of the UK by canal until age caught up with them. Then we had some other celebrities give it a try, which wasn't nearly as good, but apparently someone still thinks there's a bit more money to be made in the genre so they scrape the bottom of the canal with this claptrap. The big difference was that Timothy and Prunella genuinely loved what they did and they would have done it for free. There was no need for the forced enthusiasm of a knockoff like this. It's an easy pass.

Great tour of the canals with two funny guys. Good camera work supplemented by.maps and drone footage. A lot of history on sites visited. Relaxing and entertaining. Love to spend a seek on the canals and meet the guys for dinner.
