This is an average film that isn't bad and isn't great. The acting is a little choppy and the editing as well is a little choppy. There are some good parts that will make you squirm, think torture porn. The film is done without name actors and that is a problem since they sometimes appear to be reading from a board. The special effects are average There is some good actors.
this is not slow paced and is a little short. If your looking for a movie to fill up 80 minutes of a rainy night this film will be just fine. Watch and don't hold the movie to high expectations, and you will be fine.

The Season is a breath of fresh air for the horror genre. Where horror is starting to become more mainstream and therefore more commercialized and bland, The Season brings more depth and layers to the genre. I recently saw The Season at the Park City Film Festival and thoroughly enjoyed how Mr. Brooks shaped the story through his well-crafted script, keeping me invested in the plot and the characters through dialogue and plot lines. The actors were quite good, keeping me engaged with their performances. Not to mention the gore, the scene where Eddie was being tortured was done very well. What a great film. I can't wait to see what comes next from Brooks.
This film is like a bad tasting but pretty candy... well decorated, looks good to eat but once you bite into it, it's this awful, sour, rotten lemon flavor that you can't stand.
I started watching the film because the film's poster/box cover looks good and the story sounded alright from it's description but once I started watching it, it was the awful, sour, rotten lemon.
Yes there are several films dealing with a bad sect of the Amish that broke from the rest of community - this one is terrible. I think they wanted to make a porn film or horror film - the filmmakers decided they wanted to gave us this porn-horror Amish-exploitation lemon. It's done in very bad taste.

I saw this movie in Indiana intl. film festival where it won best cinematography award. This is must see film. It is the film that keeps you at the edge of your seat. How often do you see Amish horror film. Very interesting plot, very visual, and very wild imagination. There are several scenes where I noticed that audience in theater were covering faces from very imaginative graphic visuals.
Mostly there were unknown actors but there was a guy from another horror film The Signal, movie that did well last year. Overall from all the crappy horror films that I encounter in video stores, The Season is far the best horror film I saw in past few years.

"The Season" is a refreshing change from the "bloodbath coed summer camps" and the "brutalized babysitters club" story lines we've all become too familiar with. Like any good horror film The Season has its share of violent acts, blood and gore but with excellent actors who can convey their pain and suffering so well that you can feel it too!
My hat's off to the fine actors playing the Amish Wheeler family that carries out these twisted and unnatural acts.Who says it's not good to keep it in the family? It was so easy for me to relate to the soon to be victims, because they draw you in to their world of problems so easily that you almost feel like you are one of the group, because you've "been there". Overall I think that when you put all these facts in a big ole movie blender, I think you're going to enjoy an excellent Shake of Horror!
