    Charlie, the Insufferable

Have you ever had a friend who always needed to explain things. These know it alls can resist throwing their tiresome expertise into any magical situation. In a movie with special effects he interrupts to tell you how they did it and why it was fake. When Charlie is at his worst his sickeningly smug expression can be seen dropping a wet blanket on the joy of his audience. The central subject of this episode is the professional magician. During a trick, a female magician disappears (literally) and is later found dead in a water tank. I have no trouble with his efforts to solve the case. Rather it his general demeanor beforehand that is a turnoff.

When Penn Jillette demonstrates the guillotine magic trick on Larry, the blade reflects Nikki and Charlie. Standing in-between them is Penn's magic partner Teller. Blink and you'll miss it.
    • Goofs
The entire case is a matter for the LAPD, not the FBI. The FBI would only have jurisdiction if the victim is kidnapped and/or murdered and transported across state lines. Sinclair would be, at most, just a witness.
