After a nice trip to hell (Louisiana), we find ourselves back into the boots of Ethan Winters, survivor extraordinaire. There's a nice recap for Biohazard and then the story starts off. I'm currently playing the game on an Xbox One X and it looks absolutely stunning. The village itself is a treat to wander through, with Castle Dimitrescu lurking on the snowy horizon. What really impressed me, both with Biohazard and Village, is the detail in indoor settings. Everything, from the decorations, to lighting and furniture, is beautiful when you're wandering the castle. The underground chasms of the castle are just as much fun to explore.
There was mild concern, on my part, that this game wouldn't be scary. Boy, was I wrong. I've scared people and pets in my house from yelling out of terror. Sometimes it'll be a jump scare and sometimes it'll be a hot 9'6" vampire chasing and calling your name. Either way, your palms will sweat and you'll yell for Ethan to hurry as you're pursued by scary enemies.
This game is a great addition to the Resident Evil series and as a longtime fan, I'm so happy. I hope the team at Capcom are kicking their feet on their desks and drinking Bloody Mary. Thank you for another great game!

This is an amazing horror game and really brings a breath of fresh air to the franchise and judging by how good this game was it makes me really excited for what they will do with resident evil 4 remake but the one thing that makes this game so good and makes it stand out from the rest is the wide variety of monsters and bosses that keep you at the edge of your seat and make you scared of what will happen next if you have the opportunity to play this game u definitely should.
This is a great game. It was lots of fun. I enjoyed the action in the game, fighting the monsters. The weapons in the game were cool. The Duke was awesome in the game. The villains were awesome. Lady Dimitrescu is a great antagonist in the castle section of the game, she is tall. The voice actor for the main character Ethan Winters was good. I came to really like Ethan in this game. He has become on of my favourite resident evil protagonists. The game had a twist near the end that really surprised me. The boss battles were fun and tense. The puzzles were good. The game has really nice graphics. The monsters were horrifying and creepy. The game is going on my favourites of the year list. An awesome game to play if you're a fan of horror.
This game and RE4 are rather similar, having elements of a village, a castle and somewhat of an island and definitely retains the horror a bit more even with the added third person mode all the feelings of RE4 are there, again this is a love letter to RE4, but it's a good love letter, Capcom knew to show their love for the game and they did it in the best way possible.
I'm going to go ahead and say that Resident Evil is one of my favorite game franchises out there and the remakes, while not perfect, were definitely a joy to play through. The Resident Evil movies are awful and ruined the image of the franchise for most people. Resident Evil VII and Resident Evil 2 Remake tried and succeeded at bringing the franchise's core elements to a massive and wider audience. And now we have Resident Evil Village, a game that not only allowed me to view this series with another eye, but allowed me to come and realize that this series has truly redeemed itself.
Resident Evil Village combines elements from Resident Evil VII and Resident Evil 4, and they have done a magnificently great job. The storytelling in this game is horrifying and reminded me a lot of The Haunting of Hill House and Bly Manor. The gameplay is addictive and feels easy for both old fans and newer fans. The atmosphere is definitely horror-filled and immersive. The voice acting is really good; it's like watching a new horror show that isn't cringe-worthy and lifeless. The music is satisfying to listen to, and it's one of the best soundtracks I've heard from this franchise.
It feels original and the replay-value is high with this game. Resident Evil Village is definitely a huge contender for 2021 Game of the Year. A lot of Resident Evil content over the years made it to the Game Awards. That alone makes me happy for the future of this franchise and what the future has in store for future horror games. This game is awesome and certainly worth your time and money!
