After last episode being somewhat thematically bankrupt, focusing more on the spectacle and action of the beginning of the Iraq invasion, we're treated here with a masterclass in portraying (sometimes bordering on satirizing) extreme incompetency in the leadership of the American side of this war. From baffling strategic planning to leaving supply trucks instead of waiting ten minutes for repair to ordering strikes off of flawed Intel, "The Godfather's" leadership is incredibly flawed. "Captain America", a crazed, kill-hungry captain also exemplifies an even greater level of incompetency. Alongside the relentless "GrOoMiNg StAnDaRdS" rhetoric from "Major Sixta", and Ray lightening the mood with progressively out of pocket comments, there's quite a bit of comedy here. Tonally this series seems to be a great middle ground between "Band of Brothers" and "Full Metal Jacket", the latter I would say swung a bit too far into satire.
