Behind the Light: A Mashup Documentary

Whenever you see Sarah Smith perform live on stage you get 100 % of her. She rocks the stage, she puts her heart in every word she sings, every song she wrote and every smile she is throwing directly in everybody's heart in the audience. Her songs are authentic and most of us can relate to the topics she is singing about. But having those pictures in my head is much different from making those pictures visible for everyone. Stacy Poulos did so - and I would bet she put as much of her heart in it as Sarah. The outcome is amazing - and so is this documentary. They both make it look so easy to write a fantastic song and put it into a fantastic music video but this behind the scene shots are telling the truth about how much work you have to put in it. Hours of location-research, knowing when the light is perfect and so on ... For me as a fan and a music lover it's been an interesting experience to watch it. To see how much effort you put in before there is magic in the end. I love all the creativity you see in this documentary. Thank you Sarah and Stacy for this peak behind the scenes!

Sarah Smith is a very powerful and heartfelt Toronto, Canada rocker. I would compare her Pop Rock music to someone like Melissa Etheridge. She is fun with a crowd and her fans love her world wide as she tours Europe, Canada, and USA. The music video production 'Into the light' was never intended to be a 'documentary,' but it just kept evolving and growing into this this inspiring story 'Behind the light'. Unless you're in the film business would you know how it's nearly impossible to share a marque with a first run movie, first week AND with Lucas Film! What!? Series of events always lead us to, this was a special production; World wide recognition, 11 awards, (including winning IMDb qualifying festivals) sharing a marque with Lucas films! Crazy good things happened. While we were winning awards, Sarah played on stage with a Rolling Stone! She is a bad ass. We ended up in the news and publications around the world. A small but mighty crew of four, unless you include Sarah as crew, who had to help carry the gear down a rocky hill. So many blessings. At the time California was experiencing a 4 year drought, we film inside a nearly dry water way tunnel. Less than a week after we filmed in it, the tunnel was flooded. Just missed the storm. We had one and a half days to film her. Tight budget and even tighter time schedule. No room for mistakes, we pulled it off. Whew! And now IMDb. Legit. What a great story for a filmmaker and musician's journey. I personally love behind the scenes films and this is a good one. The best part about this one, small but mighty! This documentary was amazing to watch. It gave an in depth look behind the scenes into the making of the music video "Into The Light" by singer/songwriter Sarah Smith And director Stacy Poulos. It kept me entertained and amazed throughout. I enjoyed seeing how this video was made and the effort that went into capturing the perfect shots. I recommend this to anyone who is a fan of music.

Director Stacy Poulos does it again. Not only was her 2015 music video for my song, "Into the Light", ahead of its time, but Stacy now brings the magic of the behind-the-scenes to life again in the mash-up documentary. It is such a cool thing to watch a passionate filmmaker...We get to follow along her creative journey and watch all her hard work unfold into a 4min piece of art. You had me feeling many emotions Stacy. Thanks for another job well done!

Sarah's voice is incredible and i could listen to it for hours. I will reccomend highly. I also loved the production of this and some of her music videos by Stacy Polious. Creative and done well. I think these two have a synergy that allows folks to not only see but feel. Music for me is about feeling the intentions and i do worh this. Amazing job.
