I'm not gonna lie, I think this is even better than the first game. Bendy and the Dark Revival upgrades the first into being even scarier than before. At first, I thought this would be left off after the events of Ink Machine as a direct sequel. Instead, it's about the origins of Joey Drew's animation studio. And that's exactly what makes the story take the franchise to the next level. It would give us details of how the ink machine created the ink monsters in the first place and how Audrey is an ink herself. Along with all the fun the game can provide such as neat new gameplay features and greatly upgraded graphics. It may not be the best horror game with an obvious villain and the combat that can sometimes be struggling, but all that can be a lot more forgiving to it. If you liked Bendy and the Ink Machine, I think you're gonna like this one more. This game has really surprised me. Even if it isn't a direct sequel, this was even scarier and even more exciting. Joey Drew Studios really is an interesting site to see.
Although surpassing the original 'Bendy and the ink machine', in cinematic aspects, and overall atmosphere, this sequel lacks in many places, such as the janky combat, non-existent PLAYABLE encounters with the Ink Demon, (the main villain of the Bendy series), and absolutely dreadful console support. But it's not all bad, as this sequel contains an amazing storyline, and to many fans (including myself) makes up for the lacklustre ending of 'Bendy and the Ink Machine'. The game is also surprisingly Dark and mature, given its Teen rating from the ESRB. Overall, Bendy and the Dark revival is a slightly more than Mediocre sequel that opens many doors for the indie franchise.
I played this game for 46 minutes and I had to turn it off. The game overall feels rushed, the graphics are bad, the movement is weird and I was really disappointed in this, especially because the first game was so good. The story is really confusing and doesn't feel like it is about bendy. The jump scares are expected and I wasn't pleased with this game. It might be because I am on playstation, but this game had some real potential and they ruined it. An 30 dollars is way to much. There really wasnt any hype either, popular youtubers played one chapter and then didnt finish it. If I could I would refund it in a heartbeat. Honestly probably one of the worst games I have played in 2023.
A fantastic sequel, with some surprising moments that will take the player off-guard, especially if you played the original game, or just loved the world behind it. There are good things and bad things about this game, so let's talk about the different things this game does, and how well it does them.
Story: There will be no story spoilers here, so don't worry too much. The story in this game is far more intriguing and far darker than the original, with a story more focused on the world and how it works, along with a couple of key characters. Other than that, however, the story isn't done as well as it could have been, as the best part of the entire story, almost feels forced, and completely random. That moment was written well, but how it happened feels a bit...off. The villains are great however, it is kind of fun having villains be utterly evil without them having to be super deep, it allows for a fun simplicity to them that makes you like them more. Sadly this game isn't as iconic as the original in certain story beats and segments, so it isn't great, but it is pretty good. The story is an 8/10.
Gameplay: The only problems I have with it are the overuse of hiding, and the stealth sections either being too easy or just kinda boring. The combat is kinda sluggish, but not bad, and the puzzles are decent. Definitely, the weakest aspect of the dark revival is its gameplay. Everything else about the gameplay is fine, it doesn't excel at anything in particular, but it can be fun. Overall the gameplay is a 6/10.
Great game but struggles with some cheap jumpscares, that don't build up too much tension, an alright combat system, but a unique, original, and bizarre world that is fun to explore and learn more about.
Overall, a solid 7/10.
