Every character's name has a meaning.
Niccolo Tartini (played by
Steven Avi) comes from violinists Niccolo Paganini and Giuseppe Tartini, both of whom are believed to have sold their soul to the devil. Furthermore, Tartini has a song called The Devil's Trill which was inspired by a dream he had off the devil playing the violin
Dante Angra (played by
Jordan Vegas) comes from poet Dante Alighieri who wrote the Divine Comedy (also known as Dante's Inferno) which is about the belief of there being nine level, or better said circle, of hell and the Zoroastrian belief of Angra Mainyu which means the destruction of the spirit and mind. Interestingly enough, one Dante's biggest supporters was Cangrande I della Scala.
Casper Hall (played by
Daniel Mart) comes from Casper the friendly ghost and the word Hall. As his role as a helper, he needs to come off as trusting and leads Niccolo from his the life he's living to the life he will live.
Balaam Pan (played by
Jace Elton) is named after the diviner Balaam and the Greek god Pan. Balaam is often described as a "wicked man" but is also known for the blessings he bestowed to the Israelites. Pan is the Greek god of music
