A British TV travelogue show; A show recorded live on Channel Four from locations around the UK, e.g., Cowes Week regatta on the Isle of Wight, London Zoo, and Silverstone race circuit. It had a mixture of pre-arranged interviews with local business owners and opportunities for spontaneous chats with local people. Regular presenters included Paddy Haycocks and Andy Kershaw, working unscripted, mic'd up, carrying a boom, and filmed by a cameraman on a live link. There was often a frisson of excitement with the format of live-to-air presentation and a presenter constantly on the move, and the show sometimes finished when conversations and events came to a natural close. Pete McCarthy and Andy Kershaw hosted a Friday evening edition of the show, which covered adult-audience topics, and some of these shows were broadcast from other countries. The programme presentation format was new because lightweight technology and satellite links were newly available to broadcasters at lower costs. It was a style of outside broadcasting later adopted by UK news channels.
