Full movie, cut from and based on TV series, is excellent

If you know the context - Klooga village is mentioned several times in the movie, the place of nazi deportation camp, where people were burnt alive - the story is horrifying. Above all, there's time for love story and place for unique characters.

Although the movie is filmed in black&white, the contrast balance is excellent and you can see well even the darkest shots. Occasional hand camera usage should also be mentioned - reminded me Saving Private Ryan, but filmed more than 30 years earlier. Gives kind of documentary feeling.

You couldn't guess, one of the first male characters was actually working as the main TV anchor in Estonian Television.

Trivia
Original footage has been destroyed in 1976 fire. Only remaining copies were Russian dubbed. Whole audio had to be remade for restoration, involving some members of original cast (although, not dubbing their own roles due to passed time from shooting; original members' voices would not be suitable for dubbing roles of young people.)

Alternate versions
Restored Version: Mini-Series for TV have been combined into one piece, digitally remastered, dubbed, with re-shot banned scene. Around 5 minutes shorter than original TV Series (by removing duplicate opening and closing titles from original 3 episodes).
