The stories are based on the children's book "Heikin salaisuudet" (WSOY, 1956) by a Finnish author Aale Tynni, originally illustrated by Usko Laukkanen. The book won the Topelius Prize in 1957. An eight-part television series premiered on Finnish television in November 15, 1977 on Pikku kakkonen (1977) at Yle TV2 channel.
