Bill Oddie only briefly alludes to this series in his autobiography. In 2008's "One Flew into the Cuckoo's Egg", he talks about co-writing with his wife, acknowledging that "We co-wrote eighteen (three series of six) half-hour TV comedy dramas for a 'younger audience'."

Although the first twelve of those episodes - two series of From the Top (1985) - are discussed in detail, no further reference is made to The Bubblegum Brigade.
