Man on the Land

Here's a cartoon about farmers. Well, it starts out being about farmers, and their millennia-long struggle to maintain their freedoms and produce food for others -- the ungrateful villains -- and their greatest ally in the modern world: the oil companies that produce the power they need for their work.

It's hardly surprising to see a film like this. It was paid for by two Oil Industry trade groups. Neither is it surprising that it was produced by UPA, with their trademark simple, impressionist style. All the cartoon production companies had at least a sideline of producing work that wasn't for theatrical release, but which advertised, in one way or another. Several, in fact, did nothing else.
