This story faced by so many modern families seems to be commonplace and not worth making a movie out of. Yet the art direction is beautiful and there are some moments that brought a lump to my throat. This is a near tragedy with a glimmer of hope.
I actually liked the movie but my problem was the ending i felt like it had no clear conclusion. I know some ppl like stories that don't end with a full resolution and leave space for your imagination to run wild but i personally hate them, so that was my main problem with this movie. But i did love the actual story.
Story is realistic, shows problems of our modern society, failed communication between parents and children. There are roughly 4 different parent types in the story perfectionist, careless, overbearing and permissive. Each one acted pretty good, psychological situations are well staged. You should not expect an action movie script as some reviews were expecting, this is a good drama where you will enjoy more if you are aware of those difficulties in today's families.
A movie that challenges the viewers to question their parenthood, marriage and the way the system has been dealing with the youth. It has drama but also lots of humour and social critics in between ...not a movie for kids but for young adults and maybe teenagers.
I gave it a 10 because there is no 9.5 the movie has its flaws but delivers a strong and honest message that is hardly seem to be delivered from most movies.

I would leave to the viewer the final conclusion about this film. It touches, with a great amount of realism, the chasm between generations for a family living in the second decade of the 21st century. Attitudes grabbed from fads on the internet. Disconnection inside a dysfunctional family. Stress and anxiety coming from a job or from school. Millennial's ways of expressing their stand in life. Split ideas on parenting. I believe this film deserves watching and understanding the complexity of relationships, the ways in which we all dig our own graves by staying silent and, above all, the importance of empathy and love when things seem to go down the drain. Good and believable acting along with a superb editing make this film an interesting study on family dynamics.
