All My Children actor Alex Musser, 50, died from a shotgun wound to his chest due to suicide, the San Diego County Medical Examiner has concluded.
The actor’s fiancée, Paige Press, who discovered Musser’s body, first shared the news of his death after he died Friday night at their home in Del Mar, California.
According to a statement from the local medical examiner, Press discovered Musser “seated and slumped forward on the bathroom floor. She noted a firearm near him and an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest and called 911. Paramedics and law enforcement responded and confirmed the death.”
Musser’s death is not regarded as a homicide as there were no other contributing factors to his death besides the self-inflicted gunshot wound.
“Rip to the love of my life,” Press wrote in a series of Instagram posts, which also included photos of them throughout their time as a couple.

Super Deluxe is developing “Silver Foxes,” a new gay comedy series from “The Golden Girls” collaborators Stan Zimmerman and James Berg, Variety reported. The duo has previously written and/or produced for “Roseanne” and “Gilmore Girls,” in addition to creating the Lifetime series “Rita Rocks” in 2008. George Takei, Leslie Jordan, Cheri Oteri, and Bruce Vilanch all participated in early readings of the script.
The series is inspired by the 2011 documentary “Gen Silent,” which exposed the discrimination Lgbtq seniors experience in nursing homes. The half-hour, single camera series follows two older gay men and a younger twink who rescue a friend from a closeted life at a homophobic assisted living facility. They bring him back to their mid-century Palm Springs home for a life of friends and fabulousness.

Whether he’s playing Penny Can, being Bobby’s wing-caddy, or trying to hide what he’s done from wife Ellie, “Cougar Town’s” Andy Torres is endlessly endearing. The same can be said for the actor who plays him, the loveable Ian Gomez. Before hanging with “the cul-de-sac crew,” Gomez was a staple character on numerous television series, including “Rita Rocks,” “Jake in Progress,” “Felicity,” and “The Drew Carey Show.” A member of Chicago’s famed Second City for seven years, Gomez’s improv background led him to acting and even got him on TV’s “Whose Line is it Anyway?” Here, he discusses his journey, how to make a Hollywood marriage work, and the chemistry on “Cougar Town.” Back Stage: How did you get into acting?Ian Gomez: As a child, one of my defense mechanisms was to try to be funny. A frequent former patient on "Scrubs" will turn doctor on "Cougar Town" this season.
Nicole Sullivan will guest-star in at least one episode (and possibly more) as a couples therapist working with Jules (Courteney Cox) and Grayson (Josh Hopkins), TVLine reports.
And why are Jules and Grayson in couples therapy? Well, it's not because they're on the verge of breaking up. It's more of a pre-emptive strike, the site says, as they try to sort out their polar-opposite views on having a child together.
As for when all this will happen, we still don't know. "Cougar Town" is slated to begin its third season either in the late fall or maybe in January 2012.
Sullivan guested on several episodes of "Scrubs" (created by "Cougar Town" co-creator Bill Lawrence) over the years. The former "Mad TV" regular co-starred on CBS' "$#*! My Dad Says" last season and played the title character on Lifetime's "Rita Rocks" before that.

Over the years sketch comedy shows, the likes of SNL and MADtv, have proved themselves a spawning ground for gifted young writers and comedians, often serving as a launch pad for successful solo careers on both the small and the big screen. Yet it's a testament to the differing quality between those two shows that the likes of Steve Carell and Tina Fey have risen to such dizzying television heights as The Office and 30 Rock, Nicole Sullivan, arguably MADtv's most successful alumni finds herself fronting shows on The Lifetime Network in relative anonymity.
The story of one under appreciated wife and mother, Rita Rocks is something of role-reversal King of Queens, which is ironic considering Sullivan had a six-year recurring stint as a neurotic friend of the Heffernans. Here the husband, Jay (Richard Ruccolo), is the buttoned down one and Sullivan's Rita the scatterbrain. Stuck in a dead-end job,...

She’s been a mom of boys for almost three years, but nothing scares Nicole Sullivan more than what her future still holds.
“I’m terrified of them jumping off roofs,” she tells Babble of raising sons Dashel Pierce, 2½, and Beckett Edward, 7 months.
“[Then after that,] I have to deal with them bringing little tattooed 18-year-olds home, in those shorts you see at Abercrombie & Fitch. Like who fits into that? They look like baby clothes!”
And while she believes it’s “really important to raise independent children,” the former Rita Rocks star, 40, already has a tight rope on her brood,...

Ride With The Devil (Criterion) Ang Lee’s revisionist take on the Civil War is awash in moral ambiguity, along with some stunning cinematography, production design, and fine performances. Set during the Kansas-Missouri border war, Tobey Maguire and Skeet Ulrich star as two friends who join up with the Confederate-sympathizing Bushwhackers, finding an odd ally in a former slave (Jeffrey Wright). While it’s fascinating to see America’s bloodiest conflict through the eyes of a foreigner, thereby allowing much of the previously mentioned ambiguity a certain latitude, the film never loses the bad taste it leaves for one simple reason: it asks us, the audience, to side with not just the Confederates, but some of the lowest trash that made up the dregs, and the fringes, of the movement. Big points for audacity, but snake eyes on the story itself. Singer Jewel is impressive in her film debut.

In its late casting call, the execs behind "True Blood" were looking for an actress who could fill the role as a new waitress in Merlotte's. They have now found Lauren Bowles fit to tackle the character named Holly.
Bowles has enrolled in a lot of guest starring roles in series such as "Rita Rocks" and "The New Adventures of Old Christine". In the latter, she co-starred with half-sister Julia Louis-Dreyfus. She also had feature film appearances in "Dance Flick" and "The Heartbreak Kid".
Holly, as described in the casting call, is a thirtysomething (presumably single) mother of two. She applies for a job at Merlotte's and creeps Arlene out with her oddly prescient observations. In the books the series are based on, Holly is a major character who practices Wiccan and hooks up with Hoyt. This character will join mid season 3 and recur strongly throughout the season that she...

Husband-and-wife acting duo Duane Martin & Tisha Campbell-Martin have landed regular roles on two comedy pilots: ABC’s Wright vs. Wrong and NBC’s Next, respectively.
Wright vs Wrong stars Debra Messing as Evelyn Wright, a strong-minded, ambitious political personality who appears tough and espouses a right-wing agenda, but behind the scenes, is consumed by her foibles and flaws.
Tisha Campbell-Martin will play Evelyn’s stylist, who can’t name the Vice President but knows all the Hollywood gossip. She most recently co-starred on Lifetime’s Rita Rocks.
Next stars Paul Reiser in a semi-autobiographical story as a former television star and family man dealing with life’s day-to-day conundrums.
Duane Martin will play his friend, a restaurant owner.
I’d actually forgotten all about these folks! You know what they say… out of sight, out of mind!

U.S. TV actress Tisha Campbell was worried about expanding her family with actor husband Duane Martin, because she feared their second child would be born autistic. The "Rita Rocks" star was heartbroken when she discovered her eight-year-old son, Xen, was born with the disorder, which can impair social interaction and communication.
She tells People magazine, "I was crying, 'Why is this happening to my baby?' Will he be able to hear me? Will he be able to say, 'I love you?' Will he be independent?" Campbell admits she was "nervous and scared" ahead of the September 2009 birth of her new baby boy, Ezekiel.
But the mother-of-two couldn't be happier with the couple's growing family. She adds, "We waited a long time. I didn't know if I could handle two. We wanted to give Xen as much attention as possible. How do you give love to two human beings like that?...

Media Rights Capital has promoted Joe Hipps to vp production and creative affairs at Mrc Television.
This marks the first time indie producer MRC has had a senior executive overseeing its TV operations since October 2008, when the company parted ways with Keith Samples, its first TV head.
Hipps, whose focus will be on the creative side of development and production, will report to Mrc co-CEOs Modi Wiczyk and Asif Satchu, who had been running the TV division in the past year.
Mrc burst into the TV scene in 2008 with an aggressive launch of a half-dozen scripted series in its first year. It was a dealt a major blow when its Sunday programming block on the CW was pulled shortly after its fall 2008 launch because of poor ratings.
Of its first batch of series, only the animated "The Life and Times of Tim" on HBO and sitcom "Rita Rocks" on Lifetime earned renewals.

After apprenticing with some of the most prolific casting directors in the business, Brett Greenstein and Collin Daniel decided to join forces and strike out on their own. Five years later, the duo, based in Los Angeles, boasts a wide array of credits, ranging from the family-friendly comedies "10 Things I Hate About You" and "Rita Rocks" to the much-hyped "Melrose Place" reboot. The partnership works, says Greenstein, because they both like to have fun and are "even-keeled, mild-tempered people." Adds Daniel, "At the end of the day, we're just casting a TV show; we're not saving the world here."Career PathBrett Greenstein: I was working at a film production company and I was being groomed for a development-executive job. We were prepping a movie, "Nurse Betty," and I came to the realization that what I loved most about making these movies is the casting process. I thought that was the...

Lifetime has canceled "Rita Rocks" after two seasons.
The multi-camera comedy starring Nicole Sullivan was picked up by the network's former Lifetime entertainment president Susanne Daniels in a deal that gave the network significant ownership.
The show, produced by Mrc, was ordered as a companion to the off-network comedy "Reba" and the original plan was to amass enough episodes to strip it.
Lifetime was recently put under the oversight of A&E president and CEO Abbe Raven as part of combining the A&E and Lifetime assets in a new venture.
