I was excited to see a new installment of Into the Dark series appear in My 'recommended'. Also, to note for those who are confused on what holiday this is supposed to represent. I am going to take a stab, Valentine's day since it was appeared or dropped on February 12. The story started of solid. It leads you to believe Tara is the person your following, and she escapes something horrific. The relationship with Sam escalates quickly. I did like this installment, but there were not enough tentacles and, or gore or blood or action. It also ended ok.
Pretty much everything TV wise from Blum productions is watered down dribble.
Slow, boring, nothing really happens. I'm not talking like in a good Hitchcock kind of way.
It's not just this episode, but basically the entire Into The Dark series. More so Blum's entire TV productions.
His studio really need focus on the major motion pictures that made him popular instead of trying to crank out watered down content with his name on it.

While this film is barely better than mediocre, mediocre is better than so much of the mindless seudo-horror out there that leads you on a wild goose chase using merely atmosphere, symbols, and metaphors to nowhere!
At least we have a literal antagonist who threatens human survival and a clear, linear story structure with plenty to keep you guessing about what's actually going on.
I liked it!

In my opinion, Hulu's "Into The Dark" series always produces films that I find decent but never really good or great. Sadly, "Tentacles" is no exception. There are some scenes that are really well done. I like the score and the cinematography as well. The acting by the two main characters is competent and pretty believable as two lovers who slowly degrade into madness. The main problem I have with this film is the concept. It is never fully explained in the film and leaves me puzzled as to the entire plot of the film. There are quite a few noticeable plot holes and things that make absolutely no sense. It also stole the concept from The Crawlers, another Into The Dark episode but done a little differently. There are also a few scary parts here and there but it's more a pyschological thriller than a horror film.. Overall, acting and cinematography are.good, the plot and concept are below par. Just a meh from me.
The beginning was interesting, but the middle is a whole lot of drama romance stuff which was ok.
The story takes time to build in a way that I was kind of bored at times and when the ending came I kind of saw it coming from the beginning.
The ending is satisfying and interesting enough that I would like to see another episode with the creature characters involved.
Maybe an origin story for the creatures. They seem like H. P. Lovecraft like creatures so something like that. I wish they spent more time on that aspect, but they didn't. Too much romantic drama.
Summary: This was kind of slow. Decent acting and writing. Decent direction and special effects. Just not enough horror elements to be more than average.
